Specklebang is terminally ill

Specklebang hadn't posted for months--I wanted to ask about him.
When I told him we had taken in a third cat back in mid 2013, he had something really great to say about it.
Since he has three cats .

I liked your post brothern, for info on someone I had really missed seeing post--
though it brings us heart-wrenching news and shows how real life that internet life is .

I found his profile, and I remember him. I haven't seen him in a long, long time, but I don't recall hearing he was ever sick.

He was very helpful, especially when people had issues with sick cats. I sometimes wondered how he knew so much about cat's, their personalities, and needs. He was a good poster too. I am very sad to hear this news.

Wasn't he an older man?

Really friendly guy. When I was just a rookie here he befriended me right away.

Specklebang was a good poster here. I'm sorry to hear this. From what little I could gather, he's at peace with this event, and that's all that really matters.

Specklebang talked me into buying a kindle earlier this year! He was so enthusiastic I couldn't resist. I've wondered where he was because I've missed him! I still buy lots of real books though, because while Kindle has a lot of memory, good books will always be there on my shelf if I want to reread them. And I've got a lot of books in my library!

I hope he knows how much people liked him, and I join with everyone here in wishing him well!

Very nice man. He'll be missed by far more than DP, I'm sure.

This is a terrible shock. I last heard from him in June, when he responded to a PM I'd written asking how he'd been. He mentioned no health problems, said he was basically tired of DP's "same old-same old" arguments going around, and was spending time on the "somethingawful" and "thestraightdope" boards. He said he didn't plan to come back to DP, and since I've missed the guy, it made me sad.

I hope this is all a misunderstanding, but it doesn't appear to be. I'm so very, very sorry. I feel his loss personally. :(
 
He was my first friend here on DP. He sent me a PM asking about my cats and we ended up spending a whole afternoon chatting back and forth.

Really sad news. :(
