So what's their unemployment rate?
Jimmy Carter and Habitat for Humanity? Why was Spain building so many homes?
So it's much higher than the US. I'll bet you're slamming your government for this aren't you?13%
However a large portion of that is in the building sector which has finally collapsed in the country. In 2005 Spain started more new homes than France, Germany and Italy COMBINED.. just shows you how big the over production of new homes in Spain has been.
So what's their unemployment rate? How many minorities do they (EU) have hitting the streets when they feel an injustice has been committed against them?
In the forum where I first began posting in 2004 I often warned of the dangers of a massive disruption in oil coming from the M.E. And how if it was large enough it would adversely affect our trading partners and us and because all the Western economies are interdependent. And that the fall of one could trigger the fall of all.
Some of the kiddies didn't believe me then.
By now we all have seen Europe's economies shudder from the problems here.
Maybe the gamers believe me now.

You realize that "disruption in oil" had absolutely nothing to do with the current economic situation, right?
I just don't understand why you posted that.
But overconsumption and consumption(because of China) which is rising faster than supply is also part of the economic overall trouble.
Which is why oil is $40/bbl
Spain's economy has been in some form of crap since the Civil War!
Kinda like saying Italy's government collapsed..again. Barring Bersculoni its been a national past time since Mussolini fell.
I suppose its news.
zz
..if some of you are going to play the OIL routine(what is that your generations crutch for everything??) at the very least apply the cause to Russia......and if you don't know why then don't use the OIL routine at all tyvm.
BBC NEWS | Business | Spain jobless hits 12-year high
This is very worrying for Spain, but really it only proves that the economy is not diverse enough, having no non-service industry sector worth mentioning for example.
The Spanish economy is typical of an economy that will fare well in good times and collapse broadly in bad times since its activities are based around tourism, property and such things.
Yet, European unemployment rates remain resilient only climbing 1% the last year, as compared with the US for example where unemployment rates have risen almost 3% in the same period.
For Europe its interesting to break it into regions..
Eastern Europe, except Poland have seen a great number of rise in unemployment, while most western European countries with exception of Ireland, Spain, the UK and Sweden have actually seen a reduction in the rate or no change.

It makes for very interesting numbers to chew on..
France(+0.1%)
Germany(-0.9%)
But these numbers are until November only. It will be interesting to see further development. My hope is that they can stay resilient, but analyzes tells me otherwise.
Must be all the muslims that brought in business.Spain is one of the worlds top 10 biggest economies (nr 8 last I looked).. even bigger than Italy. 30 years ago it was not even in top 30. So...
Doh I was going to go looking for work in Spain this summer. Looks like my chances wouldnt look good.

The Palestinians are a good example, along with Syria, and Iran. If you want to be PC, and ignore the evidence in front of your eyes that's your business. You may not agree, like or respect Americans, but we have good reasons to distrust muslims. Your tone is already anti-American. Tell who do you know that lived under Hitler? I know many, and I could list many of them. Could you?Or perhaps as a result of it becoming member of the EU and adopting common policies? Ever though of that? Whats the problem with you Americans and your constant focus on Muslims in ALL things. Every thread in this forum there is a mention of Muslims, no matter what the original topic is.
Hitler and the NAZI leaders sure fooled the Germans into believing Jews were bad, it seems Bush and his cabinet have done the same for the US and Muslims.

They are as long as you dont look for construction jobs
I work in Spain btw.
Sure but i figure that in most of the jobs foriegn students end up getting [ E.G working in vinyards and the like] Im likely to come into competition with unemployed builders. That said ive some experience teaching english and maybe demand for english teachers will go up if things really go down the ****ter.
