SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

There's a lot that goes into it. After a lease is assigned the exploration phase goes deeper. Sometimes they find there isn't enough oil. Sometimes they find they need an additional lease drill on that unit. However, the Biden administration is refusing them which means a prime drilling location is stalled. Then there's environmental and legal hurdles. If they could make money drilling on their leases they would be.

The oil is being consumed. Nothing changes that. All you're doing is giving the money to corrupt dictatorship known to abuse their people and pollute/contaminate the earth in ways American companies would not be allowed to. By blocking American companies from drilling you're most likely diverting that oil production to a country that "rapes the planet" far worse. Additionally, everyone in the oil industry earns a profit. Why do you want Middle Eastern dictators and Russian oligarchs to profit at our expense?
So they would be able to produce so much oil that they wouldn’t be able to sell it for as much due to supply and demand?

Why would they do that?

Here in cali they regularly shut down refineries for unexpected maintenance during peak demand periods. If they do it every year at that time it’s not unscheduled, is it?

They’ve got us by the balls, why would they ever let us go?

Crocodile tears. Ever let a crisis go to waste.

We’re all paying out the ass for gas made from oil that was purchased months ago. And the price won’t go back down until long after the current crisis is over and oil prices go back down. Every time an Arab farts that happens.

And my friend ran the AV for the oil convention where they talked about the coming of peak oil. About twenty years ago.

no one said it was ready to go, but we should be moving in that direction. Silly me, I had a thought that Trumpers actually thought long-term....
Whatever we "should" be doing tomorrow, today must be dealt with, and today prices are going up, so we "should" also be trying to solve the problem we have today.

Ummm...there ARE attempts to move in that direction. Batteries are limited in what they can do. They are also dangerous.
So is gasoline. If the ICE was invented today they’d never let us use it because it’s so dangerous. Lithium safety has improved by leaps and bounds and there are two big lithium finds in Southern California. One of which at salton sea is tailings from a previous mining effort so will be easier to harvest. If they’re finally smart they’ll refine it and make batteries from it here too, reducing the carbon footprint dramatically.

Because I want us to have oil to fuel the coming wars over resources we’re rushing towards. China imports the oil they use and leaves theirs in the ground. Saudi Arabia has been pumping water into their wells to increase production for years. Which means they’ll just suddenly run out some day soon. That is normally done at the end of a fields’ lifespan. To get the last bit. Saudi is heavily investing in alternative energy technology now too. So it is likely they are perfectly aware this is coming.

You can bet your ass that propagandists are hard at work leveraging this crisis for their oil company clients right now. Trying to get more money for them. And they’ll get richer and we won’t get jack.

I’m looking at an electric and some solar panels and a knock off tesla wall and the entire industry worldwide can kiss my ass. And when that one’s batteries wear out replace them with American made ones, recycling the old.

If we all did that we’d get another benefit for us instead of energy corporation profits: grid storage. Peak leveling. Which would lower electricity prices that go up when demand spikes.

We’re at a time when technology will gore many oxen. So we can move to make everybody’s lives better or turn that dividend into profits for the few.

This also doesn't make logical sense if you look at what the Biden administration is doing. The Keystone XL pipeline would have allowed us to import large amounts of Canadian oil to refine with one of our closest allies. But, on Biden's first day of office he shut it down and then shortly after authorized a pipeline in Russia. The only thing Biden has done is harm us and our allies when it comes to energy production and offloaded it to dictators and tyrannical nations. He's even blocking the infrastructure. Additionally, "investing in alternative energy" is a silly liberal pipe dream people say to make themselves feel good. There's three forms of energy that is needed: oil, coal, nuclear. Wind, water, and solar are a cure for our energy needs and are often the most unreliable when needed the most.

There is only so much energy in solar and we are reaching the maximum efficiency already. Solar is not going to be a replacement for oil. It's also unreliable when needed the most.

Again, in the reality of the real world and not this future figment of your imagination we need oil. And we should be getting it from environmentally conscious nations like ourselves, Canada, etc. And, we should not be funding tyrannical dictators and oligarchs all over the world unnecessarily. While hippies sit around smoking their pipes dreaming of solar energy taking over the rest of us who live in the realm of reality and rational thought will have actual solutions to the problem. You claim to want to prevent "future" wars, by funding current wars. Your argument is stupid. Very stupid.

Keystone XL was to TRANSPORT canadian tar sands oil to gulf coast refineries, to be exported to china. It would not have added a single gallon of gasoline to US market.

I said solar because I live in Southern California. It is more than viable here. We also have a steady wind of useful level where I am.

So that’s two sources, with one likely to be strong on any given day. And storage to cover the odd still cloudy day.

All with petroleum as a backup.

And a large electric fleet coupled with a smart grid does indeed represent grid storage. Load leveling during peak hours, etc.

You sound EXACTLY like a buggy whip manufacturer at the advent of the automobile. Which was totally impractical when invented because there were no gas stations. Roads were iffy too.

We’ve been hearing how this technology is t viable for years but the engineers keep proving that wrong. So again, I’ll go with the evidence of my senses over the latest manufactured narrative.

You are arguing against points.

But not my points. I do recognize the points, however. They are the ones your narratives were designed to counter.

Be better.

Or best, even. If that helps.

extremely so once you have them----------------this is the direction we need to move, and should have been moving had it not been for certain GOPers
Not for heating homes. Geothermal is the best way to go but there's limitations on that along with very high upfront costs.
