Correction: Capitol Breach-Civil War story

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — In a story January 16, 2021, about Republican leaders invoking war rhetoric, The Associated Press incorrectly referred to an incoming chairwoman of the Michigan GOP.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — War-like imagery has begun spreading in Republican circles after the attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters, with some elected officials and party leaders rejecting pleas to tone down rhetoric calling for a second civil war.

In northwestern Wisconsin, the chairman of the St. Croix County Republican Party was forced to resign Friday after refusing for a week after the siege to remove an online post urging followers to “prepare for war.” The incoming chairwoman of the Michigan GOP and her husband, a state lawmaker, have joined a conservative social media site created after the Capitol riot where the possibility of civil war is a topic.

Phil Reynolds, a member of the GOP central committee in California’s Santa Clara County, appeared to urge on insurrectionists on social media during the Jan. 6 attack, declaring on Facebook: “The war has begun. Citizens take arms! Drumroll please….. Civil War or No Civil War?”

I doubt that is true. It wasn't Dems who stormed the Capitol.

All law enforcement agencies should work overtime tracking down every potential threat against the US (every 50 states including DC)

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

That was a misunderstanding.

By "war," he was referring to a deep difference of opinion which will someday lead to a peaceful partition of this land.

Some people are delighted by the changes in this country. That's fine.

Some people are less than delighted. That's fine, too.

So some people feel that the controversy surrounding the November 3 election marks the beginning of a peaceful movement that will eventually result in an amiable divorce, so that people can live in their own safe zone -- with people who share their own cultural values.

I believe there will be multiple battles, but an all out civil war is a long shot.

You can only push people so far before they start pushing back.

As far as I'm concerned that law is null and void a d the Patriot act kicks in and these terrorists have zero civil rights and we should never hear their names spoken In the prescience of true a.ericans!!!

You are aware people died and dozens of our law enforcement offices were badly injured.

So many that they had to set up a triage for the wounded.

Pence was within a minute of being hung.

There were bombs strategically placed.

More people died that day then in bengahzi...

And you call that "mostly peaceful"?!?

Because I have heard no one to refer to this armed assault on our nation capital as "mostly peaceful"...
