Solar energy projects are grinding to a halt in the US amid investigation into parts from China

The sun will remain active until long after earth is uninhabitable regardless of how much solar energy we collect.

Do...do you think solar panels... drain the sun!?
Do you know what sarcasm is? Seems not.

So is lunar energy (tidal flow), but that does not mean capturing and storing that energy is FREE.
Eco nuts worship the sun and the wind, and they think all their appliances will be magically powered if they pray enough.

Oh wow PoS believes in magic.

Deuce lost the debate so he's trolling. Big surprise... not!
I'm supposed to debate what you have already claimed is sarcasm?

OK, then why do we import 80% of “our” solar panels? Why can‘t they be made here and with materials mined here in compliance with our environmental laws?
The same reason the clothes you wear are made in China, the tools you use are made in China, and the computer or mobile device you authored this post from was made in China. Or, assembled somewhere else or locally, from parts made in China or raw material refined in China.

I imagine you can do the arithmetic and figure out the answer to your own question.

I'd like to see a LOT more domestic PV manufacturing. Unfortunately such things take incentives and funding if a nation wants to establish a strategic manufacturing competency. Obama actually gave America a great crack at this with ARRA, the result of which is our having a global lead in vehicle electrification technology and being in the top ~3 in battery production, however China simply vastly outspent us when it comes to PV incentives. They were hungrier for control over the supply chain, they did the work, and now they virtually own it.

If you want solar power, those wafer cells are more likely than not coming from China.

Trump's tariffs have done some good in moving PV here but it's been slow. This is a good overview of where we're at today:
