So Which Will Become the 51st State? (1 Viewer)

Puerto Rico is the most likely. Canada is too prideful to ever join the U.S. the best we can do is an expanded NAFTA.

Can't believe it got to page 2 before someone mentioned Puerto Rico.

DC most likely.

Also if Canada joins it would not become one State, but most likely each Province would become a State. Puerto Rico is less likely than DC to become a State due to messy Puerto Rican politics.

The number of new senators would need to balance out so one party doesn't come out a couple of seats more than the other.

In 1959 Alaska and Hawaii were even steven on senators and no big difference on reps in the House. Everyone in Washington knew Alaska was Cro Magnon Republican and Hawaii was pinko Democrat if not a bunch of commie socialists. Still the best laid plans went off the chart in Hawaii where they elected a popular old timer Republican to the senate, but since then Hawaii senators have been strictly Democrats.

If DC became a state which will never happen we know it would send two Democrats to the Senate. This would send Cro Republicans scurrying to find some place somewhere that would neuter this by electing two Republican senators. DC statehood is always doomed anyway because there are too many factors against it.

Puerto Rico might split on senators but the perceived lean is two Democrats so they're doomed too. I dunno about Guam's politics but with the military presence there it might lean ol' time Cro Republican among service members who do vote which across the armed forces is only about 60% of 'em who are even registered to vote. Around 43% of active duty service members who are registered to vote do actually vote. So when Cro Republicans claim to have won the military vote the fact is they ain't won much of any vote.

Has anyone thought of asking Canadians if they wish to become part of the USA? Very few would be prepared to give up their status as a sovereign independent nation.

You are right about that, the Canadians have no intention of joining.

Greenland,

Or Canada?

Neither

There's gonna be a movie.

The Greenland Story.

Starring Tom Cruise as Trump.
Cant be Tom he has to be seen running in every movie
How about the guy who played Kevin Malone in the office?

You know it's true...even in Jerry McGuire as I pointed out to my wife the other night when it was on..

If I was Trump I wouldn't be so eager. If any of these places (Canada, Greenland, Puerto Rico, DC, etc, etc...) become additional states , the GOP will lose both the house, senate, and White House permanently. Be careful what you wish for.
