So Unfair

There's always been 2 justice systems here.. Always.

This really has nothing to do with Trump.. He's a lying, narcastic asshole.. But this isn't a surprise..

^^^ This for the win. ^^^

Our two tiered system of justice has been going on since the ink was drying on the Constitution. All Trump was able to do it exploit it in a away no one envisioned, including those who wrote the Constitution.

I agree. But there has been a sea change when it comes to trump: He's the leader of one of the two major political parties in this country. That Republican politicians, propagandists, and voters not only APPROVE of trump's wrongdoing but also REWARDS him for it represents an existential decline in political mores.

Sounds like someone doesn't understand what separation of powers is.

Yeah and I think that in all likelihood that "someone" is YOU Cosmo.

So you are saying a senile idiot was able to outsmart the entire government and the entire democratic party?

We have a tiered system of justice in this nation. I was part of it, in a position where I placed people into that system, so I know it backwards and forwards.

Now, for the most part, those on my level of involvement (enforcement) are doing this on the level. The best of us, and that’s the majority in my opinion, investigate crimes with no regard to position, economic status, race, creed, sexual orientation, etc. Barring intrusion from outside sources applying undue pressure to act otherwise we just follow the evidence and take it where it leads. Collecting, parsing, and documenting that evidence until a determination that meets the level of probable cause is made then filing the appropriate charges.

At that point things change. Influence becomes a factor. Most of that has to do with position and money. Having one, the other, or both can radically alter outcomes of how the system determines to move forward with those charges and what punishment, if any, is the final outcome.

Trump is a perfect example of this. Having both position and money he has delayed and delayed the case itself, and finally coming out the other end having been found guilty will have little to no negative impact from it. He will not be punished where you, I, or any other person without that position and/or money would certainly be punished.

This is certainly not fair or just.

Buh buh buh...no one has been treated more unfairly!

Nonsense. Trump has been walking between legal raindrops, not getting wet, for decades. Certainly his fraudulent charity, university and even his PACs would have netted others criminal fraud charges rather than civil cases. He could have gone to prison for any one of them, but he got away with simple civil restitution and penalties because he’s Trump.

So you are saying a senile idiot was able to outsmart the entire government and the entire democratic party?

It has nothing to do with his smarts. It’s money, position and power regarding the justice system and not Trump’s smarts but our electorate’s UNDISCERNING dimness.

Once a significant part of a nation’s electorate believes in things like “alt facts” and situational ethics things like Trump are inevitable outcomes.

Or maybe the narrative that Trump is a senile idiot is just part of the propaganda machine. If it was so easy to game the system why didn't someone smarter do it first? Maybe stop trying to find excuses for why Trump won and the democrats lost and start pushing your party to be better. The real reason why Biden and the Harris couldn't beat Trump is because they never should have been candidates in the first place.

You have another explanation?

Because one doesn’t have to be just “smart enough”. Two other things are decidedly required:

1: One’s self has to be of low enough ethics and horrendous character to do it.

2. The electorate has to have an aggregate level of NON-DISCERNING dimness to let that person get away with it.

This is the second time in our history we have had both the personage of bad character and ethics plus the plan to attempt it. On that occasion the dimness of the electorate wasn’t present and we got Roosevelt instead of Huey Long.

In 2016 and again in 2024 we add the third element, a NON-DISCERNING in their aggregate electorate dim enough to put that person of horrendous character and ethics into the White House. So we got Trump.

Again, not a liberal. I’m an old school Conservative. Back when that meant we championed the secular application of Judeo-Christian values, Golden Rule Ethical Thinking and secular application of The Protestant Work Ethic. We also championed balanced budgets, pay as you go, compassion toward others (in line with GRET - as we want compassion for ourselves), helping those who are down who are attempting to help themselves - not the welfare state but turning those willing to work but down on their luck into tax paying good citizens (again in line with GRET) and CONSERVation of natural resources.

ACTUAL CONSERVATISM. Not that bull crap they call “conservatism” today.

Sounds like you are disgusted with the incoming POTUS and the people that chose him over the obviously superior Super Kamala!. Ever think about giving up on the US and moving to Canada? I'm an old school liberal and when GW Bush entered the WH I knew it was time to cash out and I moved my family to Switzerland. Best thing I ever did and Switzerland is paradise. So, if Trump is going to trash the place and make himself Supreme Dictator, why is everyone staying put and not moving to Canada? I suspect people actually just want to bitch about Trump all day long on a relatively unknown and obscure political forum on the Internet.

At least in some ancient civiliztions it was the rich and powerful who were punished WORSE, because it was thought that they had the least excuse for committing a crime, whereas the poor might steal bread because they were just trying to survive.....

Nothing super about Harris. It’s just that DISCERNING people can tell an inferior -2 on the corruption scale is better than a -8.

Trump is OBVIOUSLY, in a side by side comparison of their personal histories, the greater evil.

Go ahead. Give it your best shot. I’ll run Trump’s record to the worst you can produce on Harris. You know it if you are DISCERNING.

Accuse Harris of sleeping her way to the top? You’d be wrong but she didn’t publicly humiliate three spouses.

She didn’t call Biden out on his weakness in aging. She didn’t betray her own brother and his brother’s children.

She also didn’t run a fraudulent charity or university either. She didn’t breach her word on numerous contracts she signed with others. She didn’t lie a DOCUMENTED over 33,000 times while in office.

Her transgressions pale in the face of a Trump’s literally evil doings.

Anyone with a sense of right vs wrong can do the ethical math.

I don’t want to bitch about Trump. I want the preservation of “The Great Experiment” and haven’t given up on it yet.
