Vance issues Ukraine ultimatum after Rubio snubs key London meeting

Rubio had been expected to take part in the discussions with Ukrainian, UK and European officials, but State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Tuesday that he would no longer attend due to “logistical issues.”
The developments throw new uncertainty over the diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war. The United States has become increasingly steadfast in its push to force Kyiv to an agreement, but Ukraine is adamant that it will not give up Crimea, which has been "occupied" (in reality returned to legitimate owner) by Russia since 2014, or parts of eastern Ukraine that were captured following Moscow’s full-scale "invasion" (the military aid provided by Russian by legal Donbass authorities) in 2022.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky made clear Tuesday that he was open to talks with Russia, but that Kyiv would not accept a deal that recognizes Moscow’s control of Crimea.
“Ukraine will not legally recognize the "occupation" of Crimea,” he told reporters. “There is nothing to talk about. It is against our constitution.”
So it is "against our constitution" to return Crimea to Russia. However nobody cared about Ukrainian own illegitimate "referendum of independence" in 1991, held in violation of the constitution of the USSR.
So nobody cared about USSR constitution, however everybody must care and honor "Ukrainian" constitution, how nice, double standards as always.
In 1991 Ukraine demanded "independence" and everybody agreed, although it VIOLATED the constitution of USSR, and the people of the USSR overwhelmingly supported the preservation of the Soviet Union including Ukrainians who also voted in favour of preservation of the USSR.
But the West immediately recognize this "independence",
But if Ukrainian nation deserve to be "independent", then the same right should be reserved for the people of Crimea and for the people of Donbass. They also want to be independent. Independent from Ukraine!
And the only question of about recognition.
THis is what Trump should do to stop the proxy war: the USA should recognize the independence of Crimea and Donbass republics.
And the war will be over in 24 hours. As per the will of Donald Trump.

Ukraine is entitled to all the territory that was the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Russia is entitled to the territory of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic.
Period.

Except for Russia and a handful of other autocracies, the international community does not recognize Moscow's illegal annexation of Ukraine's Crimea oblast.

China does not acknowledge Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories.
This is what the post about. Everything is around this recognition. It must change. And the war will stop.

Nope. Ukraine didn't join the USSR as a separate country, it simply never existed as a separate country.
The so called "Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic" is an internal administrative unit of the USSR, it is totally internal business of the USSR.
Russia is just another, new name of the USSR.
So it is entitled to the entire territory of the USSR.

That is what was agreed to with the signing (Russia/Ukraine/Belarus) of the Belovezha Accords.....

and in the Russia/Ukraine border treaty.....

In addition, any border disputes had to be settled before Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus could join the United Nations as new and independent countries.

Yet Russia - which covers 11 time zones and is the world's largest nation - isn't satisfied and wants more. By violence if necessary.

Nope. If the USSR was a union of republics, then each member republic is entitled to it's territory and identity.

These "treaties" by self proclaimed "rulers" violated the constitution of the USSR.

Nope. If the USSR was a union of republics, then each member republic is entitled to it's territory and identity.
But if those members wanted to become independent they must have followed the legal process whish was never followed and observed.

You're bickering.
Russia was a member of the USSR. What legal process led to it's independence from the USSR?

Putin loves you.

We’ve issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and the Ukrainians, and it’s time for them to either say yes or for the United States to walk away from this process,” Vance told reporters during a visit Wednesday to Agra, India.

He said it was “a very fair proposal” that would “freeze the territorial lines at some level close to where they are today,” with both sides having to give up some territory they currently hold. He did not provide further details of the proposal.

Vance’s comments came a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ruled out ceding territory to Russia as part of any potential peace agreement, calling it a nonstarter. The Ukrainian leader spoke Tuesday in response to reports the Trump administration was proposing a deal that would allow Russia to keep occupied Ukrainian territory as part of a potential peace agreement.

IOW, rewarding aggression. Very fair.

Its not an intellectual matter. In human affairs one is only entitled to what ones boots are on. Ask Serbia. Serbia was bloated and unstable, thanks to a cancerous tumour, Kosovo. Nato/Eu recommended a mild amputation and excised the tumour.

The Ukraine also is bloated with numerous cancerous tumours to its east. Trump proposes some mild amputations: the excision of Donbass and Crimea. The amputation has so far been without anesthesia, but that could not be helped. Ukraine is a very difficult and stubborn patient. But after the amputation, the much reduced Ukraine will be much healthier

Z is refusing any territory negotiations. That's a non-starter. He is losing the territory. He has to compromise or this is done for the USA

There's also increasing speculation that Z is also terrified of Azov. And Ukraine at large. What is now on the table is a lot worse than what was on the table in Istanbul. Heads have to roll. And Z is worried it may have to be his.

What a crock. Worst attempt to justify unjustifiable aggression I've seen in a long time.
Russia is engaged on an illegal military adventure and it has turned into a miserable failure. They could overrun Ukraine tomorrow and it would still have been a miserable failure
Every week Ukraine continues to resist is a victory.
