The Smollett case appears to be the embodiment of Black Privilege. As one of the biggest “victims” (black AND gay) of evil “whitey” America, he gets the Black Privilege treatment from the Democrat Party. Apparently there’a even an Obama connection! A Chief of Staff for Michelle was able to lobby for Smollett to the State’s Attorney, well that’s just wonderful. More Black Privilege unsurprisingly in corrupt Dummycrat Chicago. They had to let “one of their own” off of course. This whole thing is a JOKE. Trump should investigate this and especially Obama’s possible involvement.
 

In the face of Jussie's having benefited apparently from 730 ILCS 5/5-6-3.3, are you postulating that his outcome derives from his being a Black man?
 
It’s part of it I think. He’s a black gay extreme leftist and very anti Trump. Chicago is an extremely left wing corrupt city. Of course they’re gonna let “one of their own” off. This is dirty corrupt politics at its worst.
 

This is not about "black privilege," it is about who Smollett knows and outright cowardice by the Chicago DA.

In the balance is anyone in future who is the actual victim of a hate crime.
 
The Democrats had to let him off because they would have faced push back from the BLM crowd if they didn’t. “Victims” like Smollett (black AND gay) can NEVER do anything wrong, they MUST be victims of the white man and the Democrat Party must defer to them at all times. I think the Democrat Party leadership and Obama, along with groups like BLM and the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are all involved in getting this secretive “deal” arranged. This is absolutely the epitome of Black Privilege as pushed by the Democrat Party.
 
White privilege is not based on skin color. Skin color is incidental. Privilege is the result of majority power. The labels that we place on groups that occupy power are incidental. It's not being white that drives white privilege, it's being the majority power.

The majority power has privilege as a result of being the majority power, not as a result of any racial or gender attributes. All races and genders are presumed equal.

Privilege is about social power dynamics. It's not biology.

And no, black people don't "get all the breaks". They don't get free Cadillacs or get out of jail free cards. Quite the opposite.

In the 70's after South Vietnam fell many Vietnamese came to this country, and many, MANY Conservatives believed the story that every single Vietnamese man, woman and child that came here received $10,000 from the government.. Free and clear. It wasn't true, but most believed that nonsense.

I'm afraid 40 years later Conservatives are still gullible and believe anything and everything they are told.

They love being victims.
 

We do a pretty good job of bringing those who help the march of freedom the most to safety. I think we should do more and too many are left to dry.

I agree. But we didn't give every single 1 Vietnamese refugee $10,000.. That was nothing but a 'poor me' story by Conservatives about how they are victims and the evil foreigners were getting special treatment..

And we don't give Blacks free Cadillacs either.

In the mid 70's I worked with a couple of Vietnamese guys who came here after S. Vietnam fell. They'd invite me to their house(they rented a house with their wifes) for dinner. The food was unbelievably good. And these men did most of the cooking, to this day I still remember the spring rolls they made, from scratch. They were great. when I did them favors they paid me with food.
 

The good food in Sweden is Kurds.

If you read the particulars of that program do you really think Smollett satisfied the requirements? Did he make full restitution for his crime? Did he perform "no less than 30 hours of community service"? Were either of those factors satisfied before charges were dropped?

I don't particularly care what Chicago does with the guy but they are making a complete mockery of the justice system with the way they handled this. Frankly, I hope Smollett DOES sue the PD because I'd LOVE to see how this signed, sealed and delivered sweetheart deal came about.

Localized favoritism is not a detriment to another group as a whole.

Majority power privilege is inescapable for both the majority and minorities. Context is global. Black people cannot escape the social impact of racial bigotry no matter where they go. Escaping racial bigotry at a social level is a majority privilege.

To a group as a whole. Localized favoritism does not affect white people as a whole. If we find ourselves subject to it, we can escape by moving.



Note: Dynamics is that which occurs between two or more groups. It's not what occurs between one group and society. Of course all injustice is detrimental to society. But localized racial favoritism is not detrimental to white people as a whole.

I do agree, at the 30,000-foot level, but if Jussie was not black and gay, and was a hetero white dude, I have to wonder if his crimes would be swept under the rug given the same fame, wealth and connections.
 
And why would he perform community service and let Chicago keep 10 grand if he's innocent.

If I'm correct, a lawsuit from either side will lead to discovery, and I'm all for that.
