Should trump resign???

So you are happy that we no longer lead the world, but are laughed at by foreign leaders (primarily our allies). Thanks for the clarification.

I don't care what people without the best interests of the US at heart think of us. Not at all.

Nobody said the virus couldn't spread. What I was addressing is the mindless panic from certain quarters. Flu will kill 650,000 worldwide this year. Where's the panic?

I wonder if they said the same in 1918 when H1N1 (Spanish Flu), far less virulent than Covid-19, killed up to 100 million, globally, including 675,000 Americans. And that was long before the days of mass transit and international air travel. H1N1 was brought to America by returning WW1 US servicemen, slowly, by ship. Many died en route. We are no more prepared for this pandemic than we were a century ago.

You should; the US relies on her allies a great deal more than you might think or believe. What say we throw your NSA spy station out of England, just as we did your nukes?

How has coronavirus "swept" the US? If we haven't tested people, how could such a claim be made? We have about 1,800 identified cases.

It has been detected in at least 40 States and you don't think that qualifies as "sweepng"? We have no idea how many people are infected and won't until widespread testing is available. We do know it is far higher than 1,800. Most of those were the hospitalized cases.

When you've outsourced all your manufacturing for decades, this is what happens. We get vast amounts of critical drugs from China, of all places, including 95% of antibiotics. This is lunacy that must be immediately addressed. China could simply refuse to sell us any more drugs and we'd be in big trouble. The people who have pushed the idea of China as some benign competitor have put the country in grave danger. They are an aggressive adversary unencumbered by any concerns over human rights or any of the other niceties we recognize. The sooner people wake up, the better off we'll be.

China has done nothing to us that has made this crisis worse so don't change the subject. The lack of adequate tests is because the Trump administration refused to accept the WHO test that was made in January and instead slow walked a home grown version. Didn't you read my link? Our lack of coordination with the rest of the world is hurting us now not helping us.
BTW at least China is not attempting to build a "doomsday machine" to extort the world like Putin has threatened. I suggest you look to Russia instead if you want an enemy to be frightened of. China depends on trade with the world, Russia has nothing to offer but oil. We need China as much as they need us too. They are the fastest growing market for US goods and services.

I agree Clinton would not have banned travel from China. But that's because travel bans do not work. Trump only (ineptly) enacted a partial ban to appeal to his xenophobic base.

It also makes no sense whatsoever to measure the US response to COVID-19 based on numbers to date. It's just getting started, testing is inconsistent -- e.g. Washington State has a lot of positives, because they decided to test samples for a Seattle flu study for COVID-19, most other cities and states won't do that. More importantly, we have no idea what direction this will go in. It is is entirely plausible that despite federal failures, local responses in the largest cities may keep the numbers down; or, that medical resources and hospitals in some areas will get overwhelmed. We just don't know.

So, you think letting in here people from the virus hotbed is a good idea? How so? That makes no sense whatsoever. There comes a time when identity politics must give way to sanity.

IDENTIFIED. Care to hazard a guess as to how many are either asymptomatic, or have yet to be identified? Be cautious, avoid crowds, wash your hands every time you touch something outside your home, and avoid touching your face until you have done. This isn't a drill.

I don't know how many cases there are and neither do any of the fear mongers in here. That's the point. Based on what we have so far, there is little to no reason for mindless panic. People need to take precautions just like they'd do for any illness. Like I mentioned above, 650,000 will die worldwide from the flu this year. Are people making a run on toilet paper because of that? Hording drinking water and disinfectant? Everyone needs to calm down and stop playing politics.

If Trump resigns we get Pence.

Pence will be a lot harder to beat than Trump.

But if you want Pence as president, that's a good thing.

You are comparing medical technology from 100 years ago with today. That makes such comparisons invalid. We have also taken steps to keep potential carriers from coming into the country.

It is a fact already in the past tense. The Obama admin was ahead of the WHO on actions, unlike bone spur. Bone spur should have resigned after being impeached.
Hilarious. You want Trump to resign with 1,800 cases .....
Um, I said he should have resigned last year, try reading slower.

What medical technology do you have to prevent this pandemic? None. You have a few testing kits, no vaccine and no prospect of one for at least a year, by which time the pandemic may have passed leaving millions dead as it did a century ago. Face masks (useless), hand washing and social distancing are the only 'preventative' measures. Exactly as they were in 1918.

I didn't say a word about China making the situation worse, though, they are ground zero for the virus. I said we can't be beholden to them for critical things like drugs. That should be a no brainer. China also has an economy ten times bigger than Putin's. China is the 800 lb gorilla and they have no qualms about what they do to overtake us. Sadly, we have helped them immensely in their efforts to diminish us. People need to wake up and see how the world is really structured now. Russia is basically a bit player.

He is way out of his depth. His handling of this issue is a nightmare. For the good of the country....should trump resign??

For the good of the country, politics should be taken out of this. We all regardless of political party or ideological views should be working together to solve this thing. But I'm afraid we've enter an era where party politics means everything and the good of the country as a whole almost nothing. The time is to get this thing under control, once that is done, go back to your party politics as usual.

This is a classic example why the two major parties and their party first attitude disgust me. If I had the power I'd throw both the GOP and the Democratic Parties out the window onto the trash heap of history.

And we are practicing those measures to the extent possible. I would imagine a vaccine will be realized in well under a year as well and that the ability to test large numbers will be ready soon.

Except that the GOP wasn't politicizing H1N1 in 2009. Nobody blamed Obama for something he had no control over.

LOL So an adversary nation with 1000's more thermonuclear warheads than China is a "bit player"? How so?

Then you'd be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

The Trump administration did have control over the response to the virus and it is sorely lacking. You do know that the response is what we are blaming Trump for not the virus.

Right, because everyone resigns after the opposition has utterly failed in its maniacal efforts to get you removed.:lamo Using your logic, Bill Clinton should have resigned, too.

I know there were lots of folks who said he should of resigned, I can look at the crime(s) and make that determination for myself.

But that is not the point, the point remains, you are horrible at reading posts.

No vaccine is safe unless tested and that takes at least a year. It is not logical to think about that now.
