I'm sorry, but I'm failing to see whatever point you're trying to make.
How are our kids being threatened?
They define the athletes, we send them in our name, or in this case, we don't.
He apparently wants to enjoy the smug feeling of being able to say
HEY I DID SOMETHING
even if it has no positive results
No, they don't.they certainly have more standing than you do
Wars have been fought over less.
They can go under any flag they like, as long as it isn't ours.
Fines, arrest, and deportation. That's all.
They wear our flag. If we say stay home, and they are patriotic, they do.The State Department can choose to deny the athletes their visas but I believe that it would just be a little mean.
and your idea of fighting a war is to shoot our own citizens to punish the enemy country
great strategy there
Not if they follow the rules.
They can go under any flag they like, as long as it isn't ours.
That rather defeats the entire point of the games.Maybe that's the ultimate solution. Remove ALL nationalities and have the athletes compete as independent individuals (or independent teams for team sports).
Unfortunately, the games would still have to be held somewhere, and somebody would still get all butt hurt over something, and would encourage another boycott.
No, they can't.Then they can go under our State flags?
No, they don't.
What if the rule was Pray to Allah, would you still feel it was just a cultural thing? What if the rule was you can kiss anyone, as long as it's the same sex? You all good with that? It's the same difference.
It doesn't matter whether they care, it matters that we do.Why would they be arrested and deported as long as they aren't making out in public. I don't see why there is a need for a boycott at all. Just don't show that you're gay in public while you're in Russia. I don't think Russia cares what we think anyway.
Then they can go under our State flags?
It doesn't matter whether they care, it matters that we do.
The requirements are the same, come to the games but don't be who you are. That's not the American Way.None of those are the rules though. Just don't perform any homosexual acts out in public and there shouldn't be a problem.
The gays in Russia have to take their stand, we have to take ours.
No it doesn't matter what we think. It's not our country.

We can take a stand by some other method than boycotting the Olympics. I think that a patch or armband would do.
