Turbotax has gotten their lobby in Washington to get the government to stop the idea of free easy online tax by the IRS and companies who provide such services. Most other countries already provide such a service, but profits over people every day with the GOP.

If people had any idea of how easy it is to fill out a 1040ez. If you are filing a straight up w-2 and not married, have no investments or property you rent look into it. If you are a young married couple who both work and are struggling, look into it.

I hear that in some countries, they do your taxes for you and send them to you to OK. That's the way it should be.

I think that the government should abolish Income Taxes entirely. For ALL Americans.

That is the easiest and the cheapest solution to the convoluted 6,871-page Tax Code.

ANd how would we pay for those things government does that we need? Please do not say a sales tax as that is about as regressive a tax as there is.

Why would goverment choose to compete against other tax software? There's no way they can develop anything that even comes close in cost and functionality to what there's in the private sector let alone people are already trained to use Turbo Tax and similar products. The best the goverment can do is work with the private sector and entice or pay them to produce a free version.
