Should Kamala Harris be able to use notes in the upcoming Presidential debate?

Should Kamala Harris be able to use notes in the upcoming Presidential debate?

A Trump campaign staffer, Jason Miller, said this as part of an interview. Neither the Harris campaign nor ABC has said this is even a consideration. Why are we pretending it's actually a thing?
It speaks to the power of right-wing propaganda.

Of course he didn't, because he deftly used fabrications, alternative facts, and outright lies.

Who needs notes to do that?
Trump doesn't "debate". He just uses excerpts from his rally speeches, which are lies, mischaracterizations, and delusions.

I sense desperation amongst our Kamala-loving brethern.

Are they afraid of another debate spectacle ala Biden? Are they afraid she is going to reveal her faults to the public like Joe did?
Currently, she has no motivation to debate Trump. She should keep pushing it off until there is a clear potential of gaining a needed swing state.

All I see are right wing sources claiming Harris wants notes. I have not been able to find anything outside of right wing media stating Harris wants notes.
Thats because there isn't any. In fact I linked to an ABC article that talks to the hot mic issue and the only reference to the notes thing was to say Miller claimed it and the Harris campaign denied it. ABC seemed to have no direct knowledge.

So another RW strawman thread.

I should have put this into the topic, I thought everyone was aware that she wanted to use notes during the debate.

The Harris campaign guy (Fallon) suddenly wanted to discuss changes to a debate already set. Suddenly, the Harris team started a baiting game about the open or closed mics and according to Miller (representing the Trump campaign), the Harris team also wanted notes, for the nominees to be seated, and opening statements. Fallon has denied (with laughter) some of those requests were ever made, so that part seems to be a "he said/he said" question and mystery. But the news about this all has grown rather than lessened and there was a back and forth on X (which I can't access) between these two guys. So, we know at least some of this discussion and baiting has indeed occurred.

I wish Fallon would clearly and openly (and truthfully) state what "changes" it was was and is that he is after and why. This has become a very publicized and immature game the Harris team is springing at this late date. It's impossible to not assume it's because they are nervous about the rules used at the CNN debate, feel Harris needs gotcha moments or less time to speak because they are worried she can't just handle those same rules, or they are looking for a way out by trying to get Trump to say to h@ll with all this game playing and these last minute change requests.

Why would she want to be seated? Trump's the one who's old, obese, and unsteady on his feet, she's the young vigorous one. I'm pretty sure she can win a stand-off with Humpty Dumpty.

Of course. You should use any tools that make you better at what you are doing. Women do not have to act like men to be effective communicators and leaders. That was necessary in the past to get entry to those positions but if you have worked for this new generation of female leaders you realize that is no longer a requirement.

There is zero evidence of this outside of a claim by Jason Miller.

There are many on the left who flat out don't want Harris to take the risk of any interviews or debates. They want her speaking on her own as little as humanly possible or even not at all. They VERY much want her to win and they feel her speaking is a notable risk.

THAT speaks VOLUMES about Harris and about the lack of confidence in her competence. This super short campaign of an anointed nominee is absolutely bizarre to watch play out.

The only change they wanted according to the ABC article was an open mic. Pretty clear why they would prefer that given Trump's propensity for running his mouth to his own detriment. Apparently Trumpis OK with it but his handlers are rightly nervous......who can blame them.

We`ll see what happens come debate day. She needs a crutch. Why does she need Tim Walz to do an interview? Why cant she do an interview alone? Trump has no problem doing interviews.

Another statement of fact ? Please provide sources to back up your assertion. What the left has said is that she doesn’t need to do interviews or debates to win.....that's very different than the bolded and your interpretation of it.

I'm not "running Donald Trump," but why would it matter if I were? Either Harris can speak to the issues without notes or she cannot, and if she cannot, that should be a concern.
You don't take notes in a debate to organize a rebuttal?

She may be trying not to frighten white people.

The only reason I can think of is for easier note taking during the course of the debate or maybe because having a desk scenario makes Harris more focused and less likely to get into a word salad loop with her hands/body and cackle involved. Trump is in his late 70s and has no need or desire to be seated for the 90 minutes (he was very opposed to that request from Biden). Harris clearly has no physical limitations and is nearly 20 years younger than Trump.

Trump does not want to share the spotlight, ever. Harris is still introducing Walz. And she wants to show the country they are a team. Something Trump would never do with Vance.
