Should junkies be considered disabled and afforded the same rights/protections as actual disabled people?
I saw a story on FOX news on how newport beach was enacting some ordinance to requiring drug treatment homes/sober homes to file for permits and they mentioned that in California that junkies are considered disabled.
I say hell no,junkies should not be considered disabled, willfully taking an addictive substance should not get you disabled status.Even if you are no longer a junky you still should not be considered disabled. If a employer does not want to hire someone with a drug habit or who has had a drug habit then that is the employer's business.junky

Disabled infers that in some way you are not completely able to do things in the normal way and thus special treatment is necessary to assist you such as wheelchair ramps.
There is no disability in addiction. There's an unwillingness which is completely different.
How would this even work in a practical sense? Instead of building ramps as entrances to the office, would companies have to remove any decor that could cause someone tripping balls to think the wall was trying to eat them?
They wouldn't need to work. They could apply for disability

We need to figure out what makes someone kick the addiction.

Well, if their drug habit's so bad that they can't work, it's either put them on Disability or execute them. We can't have them dying in the street.
I hate to break it to you guys but lots of federal programs already consider addicts disabled.
