Cults aren't religions. I think that evilgelical Christianity should be officially classified as a cult and lose its protected religious status. It's just the American version of Sharia Islam - slightly less extreme, but completely depraved, corporatized, politicized, and totally anti-Christ and a joke of a religion. It's only about money and political power, and building an army of brainwashed cult zombies from an early age is a great way for these dirtbags to stay in power.Freedom for everyone except the religious! A wonderful dream for America!

And since when do kids who are brainwashed and abused by an evil cult have "freedom of religion"?
Freedom for the oppressors to oppress the innocent! A wonderful dream for AmericKKKa! I'm pretty sure if the founders' had been born in the year 2000 they would have made an exception to the 1st Amendment to exclude radical cultists from getting any special rights that normal people don't get.
Freedom for everyone except the religious! A wonderful dream for America!
It is also Fascism, plain and simple.
In what way?
Religion itself in America has a neo-fascist component.
" Neo-fascism and religion refers to debates about the relationships between neo-fascism and various religions.
Some scholars, using the term neo-fascism in its narrow sense, consider certain contemporary religious movements and groups to represent forms of clerical or theocratic neofascism, including Christian Identity in the United States; some militant forms of politicized Islamic fundamentalism; Hindu nationalism in India (Sangh Parivar); and some neopagan alternative religions advocating white supremacism. .... :rofl I'm sorry, I am dyslexic, I thought the thread was, Should home shopping be illegal.I believe a lot of Baptist homeschool; and by and large Baptists are not a "organized" religion. BTW one can belong to an organized religion and still distrust the organization.
I have no argument with you there. But here in the US it is mostly what some splinter groups ( Creationists, Relativist, Child Righters, and other group thinkers) want and what the teacher unions want (which is not the same thing a what the teachers want) along with the Pols (who like to stand before ribbons to be cut as opposed to setting non-visible standards that would be more important.) The problem with government schools is a blanket solution a one size fits all which modern Cognitive Theories show is wrong.
I need you to expand on this to understand what you mean.
Your county has a state religion. Ours do not. Yours probably require that all people who belong to an organized religion to Tithe and have proof of the Tithe to their church by the IRS (Inland Revenue Service ( I just knew that)). That would be an explanation of the lack of actively religious people in BG.
And establishing a requirement for religious instruction in government schools is not going to happen in the US due to the 1st Amendment.
BlackDog said most of it for me. One could put that Fundy in a standard classroom and poison even more minds. Would you accept that as an acceptable reason to end government school instruction? If not, how is your argument one that shows homeschooling is detrimental in general?
In what way? Passing standard achievement tests? Jame Rage already addressed that. Moral or Ethical standards? Child Endangerment, and Contributing Delinquency to a Minor laws address that. What more must be regulated to make it merely O.K. ?
Ahhhh, the subtle yet fragrant use of sarcasmI think home church might be more beneficial to society in general than home school. :sun
Since when do Voodoo practitioners have the legal freedom to practice human cannibalism? Or when do Rastafarians have the legal right to smoke weed? I guess banning weed and human cannibalism is "fascism" and "religious discrimination" by your standard since "some religions" consider those legitimate practices.Freedom for everyone except the religious! A wonderful dream for America!
I guess you're the kind of guy who thinks that a radical Muslim cleric teaching kids in an Islamic school to hate the infidels and praise the 9/11 hijackers is "hunkie dorie", but someone actually speaking out against that is a fascist. It is also Fascism, plain and simple.
Brainwashing kids in fundie cult indoctrination camps a la Hitler Youth = "American freedom"In what way?

That's what I said. Only problem is, right now a lot of homeschool curriculum aren't required to meet the same state requirements.Of course not. So long as the home school meets the state requirements for same, there's no reason to eliminate them.
Its all about choice, see...
Wow... talk about bigotry and intolerance...No. I'd rather home schooling be made illegal. It is nothing more than double talk for being religiously backwards.
What's wrong with being bigoted and intolerant? Tolerant people are usually too weak to take a stand on anything.Wow... talk about bigotry and intolerance...
Hautey has made it her personal vendetta to oppose bigotry and intolerance. What's wrong with being bigoted and intolerant
News for you bub... if the parents want to teach this, they dont need to have their kids schooled at home to do it.I guess if a Muslim couple wants to homeschool their kid and teach them that Allah commanded them to kill the infidels, we should allow that because being "intolerant" is worse than teaching a kid to be a terrorist. **** tolerance.
And it should be allowed because restricting it = "religious discrimination"?News for you bub... if the parents want to teach this, they dont need to have their kids schooled at home to do it.
Here's the thing about a free society:And it should be allowed because restricting it = "religious discrimination"?

You don't want "freedom of religion". You just want YOUR cult...err religion to enjoy special rights that others' don't get, and when people agree that you're stupid for it, you whine like a 2 year old about "fascism".
I don't have the right to teach my kid that Zeus causes thunderstorms instead of natural processes, and have that counted towards a "science" credit. So why should cultists who believe in talking snakes and magical fruit be allowed to have that credited as a "science" course?
I guess you're the kind of guy who thinks that a radical Muslim cleric teaching kids in an Islamic school to hate the infidels and praise the 9/11 hijackers is "hunkie dorie", but someone actually speaking out against that is a fascist.
No surprise. You're spouting the same propaganda that Hitler and the Nazi party did before they got into power.
And based on your definition, I guess "fascism" isn't necessarily a bad thing then. I think I'll join the American Fascist Party (oh wait, they're Christian).
