I voted "No, but with adult supervision," only because there was no "other" option. I don't think fireworks should be outlawed, but think that some of the bigger, more dangerous ones, should only be purchased by adults 18 or older.
In some places it's a legitimate concern. Many localities ban fireworks claiming fire and personal safety reasons.
Again, some places have legitimate concerns about fireworks. Here, it's definitely a legit hazard. Houses are built close to the main roads, and those things can be a major hazard to drivers. Most don't allow them in city limits. Our city allows them anywhere including within city limits, but only certain times of the year. Your opinion? Multiple choice.
Actions and consequences. Stupid people ought to get what's coming to them.

My experience is that most of them usually get what they asked for, one way or another.
Just a sad fact of life.
Which does not happen all that often. Proportional response, please?
This is America, and I'm a bleeding heart regulation loving liberal. Fireworks should not be outlawed at all, and anyone of any age should be able to buy them and fire them off anywhere. I love me some fireworks
I could dig up and post a lot of articles, but I'll leave it at this one: Woman loses foot when hit by fireworks - chicagotribune.com
Is that proportional enough for you?
Accidents happen, but far far fewer of them than non-incidents. That is something to keep in mind.
If you buy some fireworks and put a match to them, they will explode.
That is not an accident, that is what fireworks are supposed to do.
Great things for kids to play with, eh?
Ironic that this thread pops up just after someone lit a couple of fireworks so loud, I almost crapped my pants. The stuff they blow off now days wasn't even legal to buy when I was a kid. The biggest thing outside the professional displays were firecrackers, bottle rockets and sparklers.
The kids aren't a problem it's the immature adults with pea brains that overdo it at inappropriate places and times.
I realized what the problem is with most of those fireworks. They are the same fireworks used by professional displays, but the lift charges are much smaller so they don't put them very high in the air before they go off. That's why they're so ridiculously loud, they're going off not that much higher than tree level. And yes, it is almost entirely adults lighting these things off, kids couldn't afford them.

The kids that blow their fingers off probably weren't ready, eh?
