Should Debate moderators pick the presidential debate topics?

No you aren't. You want the exact opposite. You want it assured Biden can not be asked tough questions.
I think you are shooting at the wrong target

I think that the Debate Commissions picked the topics for debate.
Probably do, but isn’t left up to the moderator to choose the questions?

Why do moderators decide what issues candidates are limited to pursuing and focusing on?

The moderator of the next debate literally spent Christmas 2018 at the Obama/Biden White House and is a well known partisan hack. She has announced the topics she and Biden agreed to limit the debate to:

Family, covid-19, race-baiting and Climate change (same topics as with Wallace.)

The moderator and Biden agreed that Biden must NOT be asked anything about:

1. Anything about his 47 year political history
2. Anything the economy
3. Anything about jobs
4. Anything about foreign policy
5. Anything about our troops and being in wars
6. Anything else that isn't diversionary Democratic Party talking points.

Who gives a damn what some political hack moderator thinks the issues should be? That is up to the candidates. The "Presidential Debates" were shifted to literally being declared NOT about the candidates or their issues at all. Rather, the presidential debates are now just a spokesperson for the richest people on earth declaring the only relevant issues and then joining with the Democrat to attack the Republican with canned Democratic Party diversionary talking points - nothing else.

They should make Biden's podium twice as wide so the Democratic "moderator" stands with him. I hope President Trump generally ignores the moderator and talks about the issues and topics he wants to talk about.

Flavor of his milkshake?

This will probably be the first time for presidential debates where the economy and the candidates political histories are banned topics.

I would think Donny Dip Stick would be tickled pink that those two topics are "banned".

Seriously.

But of course we all can see that the topic of banana splits was also banned and tricycles and fly strips and Trump's taxes and Trump's infidelities, and Trump's complaints about "chain migration" since he often travels with Melania's communist parents who are faux US citizens due to chain migration. I want to hear about some of those topics!

Perhaps we should have questions about the candidates Health Care Plans. Especially since neither ones plans have ever been enacted.

Hey, let us discuss which candidate has more success managing Nation Wide infrastructure projects?

I hope Trump is all in, one more time, for going "Full Retard" like last time (sorry NASCARGIRL wherever you are.)

Hey, I have a question for the candidates, "Why is flagrant nepotism GOOD for the orange goose but isn't for the Blue Gander?

Oh, or why is it ok now to charge the Taxpayers well over $150 million dollars for just the presidents golfing, in less than 4 years, but it was was considered anathema by one of the candidates for a president and his entire family, over 8 years, to only cost the Taxpayers $119 Million on all their vacation travel and all the president's golfing?

This is fun.

You don’t think Trump has been asked tough questions? Asking him over and over and over again if he will denounce racists seems tough.

Apparently that FREAKING SIMPLE QUESTION has caused him severe apoplexy of the mind because he just can't, it seems, dare to say anything negative about racists in fear of losing votes.

Two facts.

The question isn't tough.

He has not really and or convincingly denounced racists.

That is why the question keeps getting asked.

He is making that tough for himself.

He keeps trying to have it both ways.

Why do we need debate moderators? Let the candidates ask each other questions.

Donny doesn't have to show up if he doesn't like the proposed topics. But if he is showing up then that says he has agreed to the topics. That means if he or Joe goes off topic they need to cut their mics.
So they should only be given air time if they will only talk about subjects that are near and dear to progressives. Otherwise they should have their mics cut. Thats a cowardly position if I have ever heard one

WARNING! This post is all unproven bullshit.

I think if you were repeatedly asked if you were a racist even though you’ve repeatedly denounced racists you also would be frustrated by the question and the implication.

So they should only be given air time if they will only talk about subjects that are near and dear to progressives. Otherwise they should have their mics cut. Thats a cowardly position if I have ever heard one

Nope.

Never said nor have I ever implied any such thing that I have bolded.

The candidates should have their mics cut only if they refuse or repeatedly refuse to adhere to the debate rules and regulations they have agreed to adhere to.

Don't understand why that is so difficult for folks to understand?

I think if you were repeatedly asked if you were a racist even though you’ve repeatedly denounced racists you also would be frustrated by the question and the implication.

Who has asked Donny Dip Stick if he is a racist?

Who has asked our ersatz president Donald Trump, "Are you a racist?"

I think if you were repeatedly asked if you were a racist even though you’ve repeatedly denounced racists you also would be frustrated by the question and the implication.
back before Trump decided to enter politics, the internet and tabloids are filled with pictures of him socializing with prominent black leaders-some of whom praised him for his contributions to black entities and interests

Yea, I know. He’s even had prominent African-Americans (like Walker) endorse him and he’s still accused of being a racist. The ace in the deck of cards the Democrats like to play is the race card. And yet Biden can be given a pass for saying to a black man he wasn’t black if he didn’t vote for him. Nothing from the moderators about that.

According to CNN the topics for the last debate are:
" The topics are: "Fighting COVID-19," "American Families," "Race in America," "Climate Change," "National Security" and "Leadership." "\

On the lighter side Trump and the moderator have agreed that Trump must NOT be asked anything about:
1. Anything about his taxes and business dealings, including who he personally owes money too.
2 Anything about his companies failures.
3. Anything about the CV-19 that involves science.
4. Anything about how Mexico has paid for the Wall and that China is going to pay for the pandemic.
5 Stormy Daniels. and other encounters.
6. Why he lies.

Didn't the commission pick the topics not the moderator for this debate?
