Should Creationism be given EQUAL TIME?

You are taking the stories in the Bible as literal, and I respect your choice in that matter, but I have found that a debate about religion in any form is 100% pointless as a result.

Bod, I said the same to you about abortion and you said that would only quash exchanges of beliefs and debate. Huh...?

On the topic...absolutely allow equal time for creationism in public schools when accurate and equal time in the same format is allowed in Sunday school and church sermons (as written by scientist).

Wasn't aware that your tax dollars pay for my churches.

I am certain that my tax dollars pay for your schools, regardless whether I homeschool or send my children to private school.

In other words, since my money is involved... I am a stakeholder.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

I think it's clear what needs to happen on the issue of schooling is

1.) End the department of Education

2.) Expand the federal pell grant program to include K-12

3.) Allow parents to choose to use that pell grant money to send their kids to religious schools if they wish

That way everybody is happy.

Then congregations and church pastors, etc should be willing to eliminate the non-sensical tax exemptions that churches get...which are FOR WHAT? Those dollars gained from those exemptions could be used to help educate kids.

A church is non-profit. Why would they pay taxes? Lol.

In the abortion debate people are at least debating facts... except with the notion of what is a "person", but that is still at least arguable. Brain activity. Pain. Breathing. Consciousness.

Religion? Once people fall back to pretty much nothing but the Bible with DIRECT QUOTES of what Jesus said that was written 300 years after he died? Well, we are only debating imagination and hope and I can no more prove my daughter wrong about meeting a water fairy at the waterful that she wrote into a story with what the fairy said than I can prove the Bible wrong.

On the topic? ARe you willing to allow the creation ideas of Hinduism, Islam, Judeasm and others as well? IF not you are promoting government choosing one religion over others and that is very much unConstitutional.

Regarding the "logic" of your/my tax dollars? Well, unless you support every person or group's wish that it should be mandatory for the schools to teach what you and they want to teach, like I want Astrology to be taught in science, then you have no logical argument what so ever.

except for supporters of the First Amendment.

A church is non-profit. Why would they pay taxes? Lol.

Many companies that don't make profits don't have tax exemptions.

Additionally, many previously tax exempt organizations such as hospitals and universities might be taxed.

There are also heaps of scams that go on as a result of church's recieving tax exempt status.

Church's should have to pay for the land that they use just as I have to... the entire notion that they don't is utterly ridiculous.

except for supporters of the First Amendment.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I'm willing to let the ideas of any group that has more than a billion followers have some time, how's that?

If you want to re-write the tax code and not have any tax-exempt institutions whatsoever in the United States.... good luck to you.

You are certainly in the minority there.

I don't have a problem with that, just read it in the context that this is what SOME people believe, possibly a lot of your classmates.
Why do you want to teach non-science in a science class? Why can't you leave non-scientific subjects to a non-science class like an elective comparative religions course or an elective bible study course? Or to Sunday school?

Why make the qualification number so high? Were you trying to invalidate lesser religions? Or are you promoting dictation by the majority?

Because at some point you need to discuss the origin of life. We discussed it in Sweden... a secular country I might add. I suppose here you would face a lawsuit if you even mentioned that some people believe that God created life... a ridiculous notion that is far removed from the reality of the world we live in (1 billion+ christians) and the intent of the 1st amendment.

No, actually I am not. More and more cities are thinking of going this route and I even posted about it for you. And if your friend is the IRS and not the American people then you and your church should certainly not get tax exempt status for the contradiction against charity in favor of making money...

Wasn't it pointed out that you no longer do though?

good with using tax money to support religious schools?

That is an Appeal to Popularity and THAT is a logical fallacy... so I think that sucks in both logic and sincerity.

Logical Fallacies» Appeal to Popularity

Wrong, it's called being practical. But fine.... rather than doing that, let's just allow each school board locally to decide what they will and won't teach their students.

Curriculum can be decided on democratically. What would be more fair than that??
