Shots fired at ICE facility in Texas / At least 3 people injured in shooting at Dallas ICE facility, acting director says

Democrat politicians have called for war and for fighting in the streets.

A growing firestorm of controversy erupted on Tuesday after Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) called for aggressive action against President Donald Trump’s administration during a protest outside the Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C.

McIver, addressing a crowd of demonstrators, urged protesters to "shut down the city" and declared, "We are at war!" rhetoric that critics argue is dangerous and inflammatory.

Her comments come just days after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) similarly instructed Democratic members to “fight in the streets” against Trump’s policies.

1. They both mean non violent protest.

2. Have you seen the crazy comments on right wing social media by right wing influencers? It’s 10x worse.

no, the fact you are serious is funny.

Yes, I'm extremely serious about being against political violence and murder. I still don't understand why you find such a thing to be "funny." None of this is funny.

Trump lies worse then that daily and you love him for it.

"But Trump" really doesn't have anything to do with my position that all political violence and murder is bad. When Trump picks up a gun and starts murdering innocent people, I'll most certainly have the same view of that behavior from him as I do about others who have actually committed such atrocities.

Would you find that to be "funny" too?

I'm unfamiliar with stripper clips that have only a 5-round capacity when it comes to 5.56 NATO. They look far more like 7.62 NATO/.308 Winchester.
Another board said maybe 8mm (7.92) Mauser. Or British .303. Both the Mauser 98K and Enfield use 5 round stripper clips.

Trump has created this environment of hyper-partisan politics, including violence.

I didn't say that "fear" is the only form of harm either.
And in what way does that harm effect people beyond fear? Is living in fear harmful?

I didn't say that you said fear is the only form of harm either. Again, opposite actually. I asked what else beyond fear. You sure you doing okay keeping the good faith going?

Can you quote Kimmel that points to the lie, using his words, that would implicate him in knowingly spreading false information that arises to public harm you say is distrust in...the truth? That's the FCC rule on such.

Who decides what is true or not?

Let's be clear with what is being said as someone used 'no political affiliation' upthread.

There need be no actual political gain to be had from this, nor an actual voting record for this person to be a mentally weak/ill person who believed the rhetoric they heard (from the left in this instance) to direct hate and death towards the people they were told to hate, BECAUSE of left wind ideology and the rhetoric that has been forthcoming for quite a while now.

How come when righties pissed on, shit in and busted into the capitol, when we said "Trump said 'fight' 20 times and threatened that we literally would not have a country if they didn't and that influenced them, plus he's been saying that same shit for months and months," righties all said "That's ridiculous, people make up their own minds to do violence." But...now it's, people do violence because they heard things from the left?

This.

He literally never stops the rhetoric. Never. He even tweets on the toilet for one side of the nation to directly hate the other. Nightly. Sometimes a few times a night.

What an absolutely silly claim. Political violence and hyperpartisan politics existed everywhere long before Trump came along. Your claim is a complete denial of obvious reality.

I already pointed out what Kimmel said and what was a lie, multiple times. Your question has been fully answered already. Do you have any other questions, or are you going to continuously ask the same thing over and over again in the hopes that I'll provide you with some kind of "Gotcha!" opportunity?

  • Knives or cutting instruments: 1,562 homicides
  • Personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.): 659 homicides
  • Total (Knives + Personal weapons): 2,221 homicides
  • Rifles (all types): 511 homicides

looks like 4X the numbers

In the spirit of honesty and completeness, we should also note there is a large number of murders committed with a firearm where the type is not specified. Assuming (without evidence either way so I'm open to a better method) a consistent ratio of rifles-to-handguns-to-shotguns-to-..."other guns" (?), we should probably add another ~329 to the rifle category. It's still far below the knives, but now edges out personal weapons by a fair bit.

I see this statistic cited a lot and this omission and assumption that the "Firearms, type not stated" category shouldn't count for anything always bothers me.

Maybe it's me. But does anyone else get the feeling this is BS? Okay let's review. This guy supposedly hated ICE so much he shot the detainees? Um. What? Shooting the victims of ICE as part of an attack on ICE seems, counterproductive to say the least. Then it was the writing on the ammo, again.

Nobody writes on their ammo. It's a stupid thing done in the worst you find in Hollywood.

Then the shooter commits suicide. Okay. Let me get this straight because I'm having a little trouble following. They guy didn't want to get taken by the cops the cops he wanted to kill, so he shot himself. Leaving ammo with these messages on it to be found because he wanted his message out there. Um. Why not shoot the ammo at the cops if you hate them so much? The Cops would happily shoot you. You wouldn't need to worry about killing yourself.

Somethings are just not adding up for me.

So unknown if there are political motivations. The alleged writing on the casing is similar to the last shooter who was some meme obsessed kid. We'll see what comes out of the investigation in the future days.

Facebook page shows otherwise. Antifa and communist leanings.

He wasn't shooting at the detainees. He was shooting at the building and a van parked by the building. The detainees were in the van.

He shot at an ICE van without knowing who was inside. Not saying politically motivated shooters are exactly the smartest in the bunch.

All of the shooters, whether it’s from the left or the right (Vance Boelter), appear unable to reason properly and seem unsophisticated in terms of their ideology.

Everyone is understandably very worried, but to a great extent is just looks like these people are little nuts.

“He didn’t have strong feelings about ICE as far as I knew,” Noah Jahn said of his brother, who DHS officials said fired at the ICE building “indiscriminately.”

Public records show that Joshua Jahn registered as an independent in Oklahoma and last voted in November.

In 2016, he was charged in Texas with delivering marijuana in an amount greater than ¼-ounce but less than 5 pounds. He pleaded guilty to the felony charge, records show.

Noah Jahn described his brother as “unique” but said he was not one he ever would have thought would be involved in a politically motivated shooting.

“I didn’t think he was politically interested,” he said. “He wasn’t interested in politics on either side as far as I knew.”

A friend of the shooter later in the article describes he was upset about immigration, but he doesn’t appear to be a close friend so I give it less weight.
That makes sense. It’s a good bet that shooting up an ICE facility was just an accident. I mean, there is no evidence that he knew what he was doing or why he was doing it.

I’m with you, it was a totally random act and, sadly, a couple of immigrants got in the way of his bullets.

Not in your conversation with me but I can see it's become uncomfortable to you to have a discussion with me without playing this gotcha game.

Twice you replied saying the opposite of what I said lol I guess quoting things is a hard limit for you.

This bears no resemblance to any argument anyone has ever made in this thread. Just stop. You're being ridiculous.

Ha. Gotcha...

You haven't said what the lie was, quoting him, and why his words would constitute a violation based on his words. Only your interpretation of what he said.

I'm not playing a game, I'm trying to have a conversation. I'm a winner just being alive and happy to know I don't go to such lengths to claim to be annoyed being asked to continue a conversation using his words. Especially when telling me to go look for solidifies my position you haven't. And seem really against the idea.
