Shepard Smith is stepping down from Fox News, the network announced on Friday. Today's Friday afternoon showing of Shepard Smith Reporting was his last.

Just breaking, and not yet on the Fox News website at this moment. I must admit, I'm not at all surprised at this news.

As a viewer, I'm not surprised. His colleagues seemed shell shocked.

Either Donald Trump doesn't know how polls work, or he's just straight up mad that Fox News didn't lie for him.

Probably both

It's probably both.

Seemed to come out of the blue, was watching live, Cavuto following Shep was knocked out. I'm sure it is a result of the infighting between hosts over these events/impeachment.

That's too bad. Shep was one of only a very few honest people left working at Fox News.

I agree with the posters who say this coincides with that piece of **** Barr meeting with Murdoch.

I hope Fox goes down in flames now.

Despite Shep's Fox association, I believe he would be a hot commodity on the open market. I've always liked him.

I hope one of the other cable channels picks him up. I've always liked him too. I love his voice. And his honesty.

Yep. Wherever Barr goes, trouble follows. He's a disgrace. Well, he's even worse, but I'll stop there.

So where does he end up?

That's too bad, but I also figured it would happen. He was one of their anchors that I could stomach watching, he still had a grip on reality and wasn't a soulless Trump bootlicker. That's been the way in the radio shows too, praise and defend Trump even when he's violating the constitution, the rule of law, the country and its people, and make up any senseless lies to do it. If you have too much character and love of country to fit the bill, you're out. We'll see what the future is for the Fox opinion channel.

I think he would do very well at CNN, and perhaps be happier. But with his gravitas, he might even make it to the networks in some capacity. I think he has it in him.

A descending tide swamps all boats?
I think it was wise that he move on, he clearly wasn't toeing the company line any longer.
Good on him.

This is good news for Megyn Kelly. She's been auditioning pretty hard on Twitter the last few weeks.

In typical mob fashion, it seems Barr made Murdoch an offer he couldn't refuse.

Shep was one of the few @ Fox I could actually listen to. None of the cheer-leading and let's push some Trump conspiracy crap.

Agreed

I was surprised to read about this, but it sounds like he’s leaving on his terms. Both his and Fox’s statements were pretty gracious. I can see wanting to do something different after 23 years.
