I usually love watching Barack Obama or Michelle Obama speak. President Obama, when campaigning, often gets very relaxed and folksy. (Well he is a relaxed, cool guy. Everyone admits that.) I remember seeing a news clip a few years ago of him with his shirt sleeves rolled up talking with a group of voters. Someone watching, I believe a newscaster, said she never can believe how campaigning, which he loves, transforms him. She said, I look and say "Who is this guy? And what did they do with the President?"

Last night's speeches at the Democratic National Convention by the Obamas were a reminder of why Barack Obama was re-elected and served for eight years and why his wife, Michelle, is asked so often if she will run for President. (She never will.)

Pundit Seth Meyers writes about President Obama's speech and the hand gestures, made as if unrelated to the subject he was discussing (Donald Trump's obsession with crowd size) caught the convention off-guard and made everybody laugh. "The New York Times" writes that, "The 'Late Night' host remarked that former President Barack Obama burned Donald Trump 'without even saying a word' on Day 2 of the D.N.C."

"Barack Obama’s speech, Meyers said, “got everyone talking when he took a jab at the size of Trump’s crowds.”

“He did it without even saying a word — just a tiny hand gesture.” — SETH MEYERS"

It was an awesome dig. Barack Obama is really good at being subtle.

Meyers also lauded Michelle, saying he was really glad she was not a late night comic, or he might be out of a job.

Remember Obama's brilliant performance at the White House Correspondent's event? Trump was seething!

A couple of uppity blacks mocking a white president, call out the national guard.

Jake Tapper left journalism to join CNN 🤣

Mike Bloomberg is actually worth the amount of money he says he is. 😝

I'm hurt, Bernie, that you've been distancing yourself a little from me. That's not something you do to your comrade. 😁

Ted Cruz had a tough week. He went to Indiana...Hoosier country. He stood on a basketball court and called the hoop a basketball ring. What else is his his lexicon? Baseball sticks? Football hats? But sure, I'm the foreign one. 🤭

I still say that the reason our country is going through all this Republican Darkness is because of a couple girls in college laughing at Trump during sex.

And if that's true, we have to have better safeguards of protecting democracy.

I needed a refresher and I watched the speech in its entirety this morning. Thank you for posting it, @snakestretcher. Obama was so brilliant. It is a shame that he is largely absent from the national stage now.

After last night's speeches television commentators have been speaking of what a fine orator Bill Clinton was and how he showed his flair again yesterday. It is good to be reminded of how articulate and eloquent some of our past presidents have been. Memory fades!

Yes, eloquence and erudition Trump can only dream about-if he can even spell it.
