The Sesame Street corporate arm sells branded toys, videos and other logo merchandise producing millions in revenue annually. The pay per view contracts aren't free. Of course none of filthy lucre from from Sesame street corporate revenue is used to compensate PBS and the US taxpayer. The reason is to provide content that is useful but not profitable, to everyone, free of corporate influence / obligation.
Sesame street, as the example, has been a wonderful aid in preschool teaching as long as it has existed, and it could be seen in every house with a TV. It didn't have to make a profit, it could just teach, without having to plug a toy or a cereal or whatever.
Now that content is behind a Netflix subscription, making it out of reach for all the kids in households that can't afford one, which is ironic because they're likely the kids that could use this the most.
I find it contradictory that as a teacher you don't see the value lost here. Should libraries and museums be defunded next?
I note the Canadian flag on your user profile. Do you support a multimillion dollar annual subsidy for Sesame street paid for by Canadian taxpayers?
