Senator Obama on Immigration

It's all crystal clear until you need a few extra votes.

Or Senator, or Congressman, or Mayor. Politicians inevitably base their positions on whatever they figure will benefit them most. Decisions are only made based on constituency benefit when the benefits to the constituency match those of the candidate or elected official.

40 years ago we were all about "Don't Trust the Government!" and "Nobody for President!". Those days are gone. Now all those stoned, tambourine toting, sandal wearing "beautiful people" are running the show and it's all about party loyalty. It's a sad thing that all the hippies turned into what they railed against.

What's the possible inside knowledge the president would have about illegal immigrants vs when he was a senator? Are the illegals really undercover CIA agents?

I see, so when Obama became president he found out that his statement: "Those who enter the country illegally and those who hire them, disrespect the law, and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law" was simply not true. Perhaps you could fill me in on what possible information he received that would cause him to change his mind.
 
Senator Obama would have been a decent president. Unfortunately Obama changed and as a result here we are as a country

Haven't watched the video yet but let me guess.

1. No mention of Mexicans wreaking havoc and chaos and carnage across the country.
2. No talk of rounding up millions of people and their families to ship them out of the country.
3. No talk of stopping legal immigrants and detaining them in airports.
4. He discusses the topic rationally and address the important things that we really should address rather than building a wall and fear mongering people to think theirs hordes of Mexicans raping the country at large.

That was when Obama was young man determined to make America better. Unfortunately he became a bought and paid for stooge of the rich and powerful.
The rich and powerful fund the parties and the candidates. They also need cheap labor to keep the hard working people of this country from being able to demand a livable wage. You work for less or we bring in the Mexicans by the millions.

The video speaks for itself since it's his actual words. That's what this thread is about. Obama's stance on immigration as a senator. Scorekeeping? Depends on who's keeping score and what criteria they use. It's not as simple, as you WELL know, as hits, runs and errors.

It helps to use a standard defintion of deportation vs. removal - Obama countns anyone not allowed to stay in the US not withstanding that they were mere yards from the border when "deported" which used to not count.

The vast majority of those border crossers would not have been treated as formal deportations under most previous administrations. If all removals were tallied, the total sent back to Mexico each year would have been far higher under those previous administrations than it is now.
