Senate version of BBB cuts $930,000,000,000 from Medicaid

The left's hatred of rich and successful people has clouded their thinking to the point where they are completely disconnected from the typical American.
My husband is currently looking at purchasing several multimillion dollar marinas to expand our businesses. So, I am a “successful people”. Wouldn’t necessarily qualify us as “rich” but, we working on it and trying.

See, we don’t need to worry about the cuts to Medicaid, etc.

But - let me ask you something and I’m serious:

Could you pay for your family member out of pocket to be in a nursing home or care facility? It’s costing us about $10K a month for my mother in law to be in one - that’s with getting her hair and nails done weekly - and we chose that facility specifically because it is private pay and doesn’t rely on Medicaid funding at all.

Do you know what happens when Medicaid cuts hit? Just to nursing homes and care facilities?

😂

I really don’t think people truly appreciate how BAD this bill is for average Americans.

I think this is great. All those Red Counties we hear about endlessly will have people dying off in droves with cuts to healthcare. Those folks won't be able to vote Republican ever again. That is a good thing. That's the great thing about MAGA and Republicans. They're determined to kill off their own voters to give themselves more money. Let them die. If the people they elected don't give a crap about them, why should I? If those folks don't care about themselves, why should I get upset. Cut all of Medicaid out. Cut every dollar. Rich folks need tax cuts.

The only medicaid cut I see so far is :
1. Institute work requirements for age appropriate able body applicants.
2. No medicaid for illegals or people who cannot prove citizenship ( i.e. green card holders)
3. Reduce matching funds from 90% to 80% for states that still want to provide medicaid to non-citizens.
4. No gender affirming care.

I can't see how normal senior nursing home care will be affected.

Medicaid is little more than a scam to take fed tax receipts and shuttle them to the states under the guise of "helping rural America". The hospital and doctor lobbies gleefully accept their share and try to get you to believe that their support of it is all for the good of decentralized rural areas, when it actually just fills their pockets. Dems love to support lies like this. Rural Americans know BS when they try to foist it on them.

I'm not surprised you have no supporting citation.
Neither Medicaid spending nor enrollment has increased by 50% in the last 5 years.

While Medicaid spending has been increasing, the growth rate has been significantly less than 50%. For example, per enrollee spending in Medicaid rose by 9.7% in 2023, which is much lower than the 80.4% increase in private insurance spending per enrollee.

So, you are just spewing more trumpie nonsense propaganda.
Its all 'ya know, huh?

Medicaid spending growth. Medicaid spending is up more than 50% from 2019 to 2025

Biden greatly expanded eligibility while he was president. The increase in 2020 is understandable due to the pandemic.

2019 - 3.8%
2020 - 7.1%
2021 - 9.3%
2022 - 9.8%
2023 - 9.1%
2024 - 5.5%
2025 - 3.9% projected

So, who is going to pay to keep those facilities open without Medicaid?

The doctors and nurses just work for free and the equipment all donated and the electric company just gives them free utilities?

How about the states? Providing healthcare is not a federal matter (read the 10th Amendment some time). If the states want it, let them go right ahead and pay for it themselves.

They have enough assets to pay for it themselves. The average nursing home stay is less than 1.5 years. Even at your super fancy facility that's only $180,000 / person.

Also I should add that cuts to Medicaid is not the same thing as no Medicaid at all, ever, for anyone. You know you can reduce spending without completely abolishing the program, right?

Spending cuts could be something as simple as getting rid of coverage for illegals.

I stand corrected.

Oh my....

Only $930,000,000,000?

What are those stupid democrats complaining about, huh.

/s
Its a trillion dollar annual program. So instead of spending $10 trillion on medicare over the next ten years, we will a little over $9 trillion. Oh noes, the sky is falling.

LOLOL. Beautiful.

Most of the people on Medicaid are Trump supporters. When they find out next year that they have no more health coverage for themselves or their children I imagine they will squeal like stuck pigs, "But, but, but...we didn't vote for this. We voted to stop those darkies from sneaking across the border."

Sink into the sh*t, Trumpanzees. You voted for cuts, you may not necessarily have wanted them, but that's just your ignorance of what Trump and the Project 2028 crowd really stands for.

Medicaid is handed out by the states. If they need more money just tax the people. What does it matter who levies the taxes. I like the people handing out the money to be the ones taxing the people. I don't want my Medicaid taxes going to people here illegally committing crimes while hard working citizens who have fallen on hard times are not being helped. The 3rd and 4th generation welfare people need to find out that we are done handing them are hard earned money so they can sit on the porch and drink beer and smoke cigarettes.

What? But BirdinHand made it sound like the program will be totally gone and my parents will die in the streets. The way you explained it makes it sound like those cuts could be accomplished by just making the program a bit more efficient and getting rid of coverage for illegals. So confusing...    🧐 🫣😵‍💫

CBO n umbers are worthless, but are the guide. you have to look at what is being cut though. Not "Medicade" but Medicade expansion
How are we supposed to provide national health care when we don't budget for it? We greatly increased those eligible, and now cut it back to only workers with dependents < 7. Before it was <18..which means any worker with a minor dependent -not just a child dependent was eligible

This comes as no surprise to anyone.

Trump lied.

CNN reports, "Trump is using false claims to promote his massive domestic policy bill.

"In a White House speech on Thursday, Trump falsely claimed Medicaid is “left the same” by the bill. In fact, both the version of the legislation that was narrowly passed by the House in May and the latest version now being contemplated by the Senate contain major Medicaid policy changes and funding cuts that are expected to result in millions of people losing insurance coverage.

"Trump also falsely claimed that the bill includes “no tax” on Social Security benefits. The legislation would not actually fulfill Trump’s campaign promise to completely eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, though it would temporarily give seniors a substantially bigger tax deduction. And Trump falsely claimed that “there’ll be a 68% tax increase” if Congress doesn’t approve the bill; there is no credible estimate of anything close to a 68% hike."

Most of the people on Medicaid may be Trump supporters but I look at the actual cuts and I think a disproportionate number of Democrats will be affected. Mainly in two areas:
1) Work requirements for able body age apporiate applicants.
2) No medicaid for Illegals and non-citizens.

Not that it really matters. It's the principle that matters. It's all about personal responsibility and adding to society and not living off society.

That's really all this is about. You MAGAs are okay with hurting yourselves/your families/your kids if you can hurt the brown people too.
That's silly. If the budget is cut by 10% and that 10% was previously going towards (and now no longer does) Medicaid for illegals, how would that hurt MAGA?

I haven't read the entire bill. I'm OK with some Medicaid cuts in general, though.
So am I.

I don't like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, etc. I hope this hurts them.

Fair enough. I mean, I don't mind being hurt if MAGAs are hurt too.

It's simply what you guys support.

The hate consumes MAGA.
Simply put, you cut out the part of my quote that actually makes my argument because there's zero depth or critical thought in your position.
