Why do people hate defense attorneys? John Adams was a defense attorney, and I believe he had to represent the British soldiers who were involved in the Boston massacre.

I don't hate defense attorney's. I hate any defense attorney that refuses to defend people that do not comply or conform to their ideology - like Ross. Defense attorney's that take any and all as clients, are fine with me. We have an adversarial system that protects the rights of the accused and requires the government to prove their case rather than the accused to prove their innocence, and defense attorney's are a critical part of that system.
