Senate passes Biden's $1.9 trillion relief package including $1,400 stimulus checks

Excellent news for the American people. This package is a BFD.

Absolutely correct Greenbeard, I'm starting to REALLY like this President Joe Biden guy!!!!

This is indeed a BFD.

*APPLAUSE*

Did... did they just change tax law for the 2020 tax season!? Imma be pissed!

$300 a week is a joke. It's what rich people think poor people need to live. disgusting.

They are going to use your latest tax return to calculate who is eligible.
So if you haven't filed yet for 2020 they will use your previous return.

The $300 per week is in addition to whatever UE a person would already be getting from their state UE fund.
Some people will get a few hundred from their state as well as the $300 Federal, and some states are not paying anything. So the $300 is certainly better than nothing.

It seems to me anyway that this bill was a decent compromise. I feel for anyone that is really hurting, but it won't be perfect for everyone.

What about the tax exemption for unemployment filings? If 2020 taxes are already filed, how does that refund get back to that person?

Another $1 trillion plus in graft money, with some crumbs tossed to the extra stupid general public. Keep this up and all members of Congress who want it will all be billionaires by the time they are age 100 in 2 or 3 decades.

Yeah, I don't know. Last year it was $600 a week. Different congress and Senate and president I guess, but things didn't become 50% cheaper in my area in the last year.

TBH I am not sure about that, I have not collected any UE. The provisions of the Senate bill are online, I am assuming the House will re-pass it quickly (they have to vote again since there were some changes made in the Senate). I'd expect this to be law by Tuesday or something. Hopefully.

Democrat governors were correct. They had no reason to worry about lost sales tax income because they just will have Texans, Floridians and others in open Republican states pay Democratic state's pension plans.

We are living the fall of the United States. The government has become purely corrupt, there is no free press anymore, and the plutocrats and kelptocrats eliminated democracy only behalf of a totalitarian police state, and will have finalized obliteration of the middle class easily by the end of this decade.

I hope they spend so much that we have to cancel the endless phony "wars". 👍

C'mon Mr. Cloudy Day.....put on a smile and chin up!:p

I think you're a "glass half empty" sort of guy.😉

Thank you President Biden!!!!! Now GIVE ME MY CHECK!!!!

Well, you could be right about some of that but I'll tell you something Joko:

By Zeus I'll get mine!! By Zeus I ALWAYS fu66ing get MINE!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Thank you President Biden!!!!

Kinda sounds like the tax cut you all lauded.

By the narrowest of margins, 50-49.

“Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) missed the vote.”

The bill passed the House by something like seven votes.

So nice having Dems with all of Congress. No more McConnell to hold things up.
Might be a fun 2 years!
I'm no big fan of Democrats anymore but still lean more their way than I do these complete toolbag Repubs.

Three cheers for the plutocrats and Xi Jinping.

If the Alaska Senator would have voted, VP Harris would have broken the 50-50 tie for the Dems anyway.
Dems control the Senate.

I have no idea what that means, but I appreciate that we have money going to Americans (not much I know, but its something), school reopening, tax credit for UE, national vaccination programs, etc.

Come on, buck up Little Camper. Turn that frown upside down!

Yeah, most people don't bother to worry about things that don't affect them which is how crappy pieces of garbage like this get passed.

Striking to see the GOP vote lockstep against economic and health provisions that three-quarters of the public supports. A vote against opening schools, against vaccine distribution, against food security, again unemployment and housing assistance, against halving child poverty, against helping people afford health care during a public health crisis. That is a deeply broken party.

well said Greenbeard.
Hopefully Americans are paying attention. But: the willful ignorance is rampant these days. At least we have this 2 years though. I say "we" even tho I'm not really a Democrat but more of a liberally leaning person so its still good with me.

Well my lunch break is over, I have a project I've got to finish up.
Have a good afternoon!

I dont vote on thelegislation.
Again: I dont know every detail, I didn't write it or see it, nor did I collect UE so it doesn't affect me anyway.
Maybe stop bitching like a child and find out for yourself instead of asking me to do it for you? That would be OK with me!

LOL, bye now!

Yep, that’s only $15,600/year (or the FTE of $7.50/hour) on top of their state’s UI benefits. ;)
