Link: Senate approves $9 billion in cuts to foreign aid, public broadcasting funding

Long past time to nuke the CPB subsidy. This was the lead story on an NPR newscast I heard in the car this morning. They reported that NPR gets 5% of its funding from taxpayers, and PBS gets 5%. Or it may be the other way around; either way it's 5% and 15%. Easily sustainable cutbacks. If they can't find a way to survive, then Big Bird deserves to be fricasseed.

Time to increase contribution levels to PBS and NPR.

As for the cuts to foreign aid: no doubt about it, the GOP is anti-life.

With over 350 public television stations and over 1,100 public radio broadcast stations I'm not sure we need to be supporting NPR and PBS.

“HOUSE APPROVES NINE BILLION DOLLAR CUTS PACKAGE, INCLUDING ATROCIOUS NPR AND PUBLIC BROADCASTING, WHERE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR WERE WASTED,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform late Thursday night. “REPUBLICANS HAVE TRIED DOING THIS FOR 40 YEARS, AND FAILED….BUT NO MORE. THIS IS BIG!!!” - 🌮

What an asshole.

Why Trump hates PBS:

I'm laughing at the people who still claim the CIA front USAID is really an aide organization for poor people.

I like in that the funding will be straight forward. Since I have to pay for it anyway, at least I won't resent my tax dollars funding it too

I've been a monthly PBS contributor for years. Come join me. It's fun!
They no longer make interesting documents. I remember way way back when there was a NKVD interview and the interviewee talked about, 'how that night the trucks never stopped coming in. And that all the men were drunk and hysterical and they were condemning God and crying, etc'. Really interesting. It's those stories that needed to be told, were 'sometimes' told rather than being ignored.

You didnt have any more posts from the Lincoln Project? Their founder was a pedophile? Lol
Hey, I use whatever is available. You can choose to ignore or mock but it would be ironic based on what you consider "reliable" sources (randos on Xitter).

PBS kids is probably the only major producer of children’s content that isn’t primarily trying to extract money from your kids.

I'm laughing at you. Right now.

Hey maybe someone who voted for a pedophile rapist shouldn't be throwing this particular stone.

Repubs don't understand the value of public goods.

You should be laughing at yourself for thinking a CIA front cares about helping starving and poor people.
