Seems Trump's legal team may regret their choice for Special Master

Yeah, but...how did the hearing end? Did the judge say something like "We'll reconvene tomorrow and you present your evidence"? Did he say, "I find in the DOJ's favor and may god have mercy on your souls"? Did he say, "I quit assholes, I'm moving to Albuquerque and cooking method"? Did he throw a smoke bomb on the ground and disappear when the smoke cleared?

How did it end??

That's above my pay scale, Cardinal! ;)

We're just getting dribbles, actually. I read something went south with the audio feed, so hopefully the transcript will be released soon.

Assuming Fox even talks about this on prime time tonight I can't wait for their spin.

Imagine that... a Trump selected Judge acting like a judge?

About what? That they don't like the Special Master that Trump requested and she agreed to?

I'm supposing they can appear back before Judge Canon to argue against today's actions by Special Master Dearie.

Remember, in court Trusty told Dearie he wasn't following Cannon's directive.

It seems to be above everybody's pay scale, including the people who write for Lawfare. Nobody can seem to clarify what the impact of today's hearing today was, exactly.

My non-lawyer hypothesis is: Trusty & crew will try to get back before Cannon to complain about Dearie's ruling.

In one of the Tweets it was claimed Trusty told Dearie he wasn't following Cannon's directive. My supposition is Cannon can direct or clarify Dearie's actions, but I don't know how deep that goes. I suspect she can even remove him if she so desires.

Special Master Has a Simple Test That May Be Disaster for Trump (DB)

The special master, Raymond J. Dearie, said Tuesday that if Trump’s lawyers don't officially counter whether the documents the former president took are classified, then Dearie will side with the DOJ.

“As far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it,” he said.
.....
Dearie also cautioned Trump's lawyers from being coy simply to avoid making mistakes and oversharing potentially damning information.

“This is not a criminal case. The plaintiff has the burden of establishing his right to relief,” he said.

When Trump lawyer James M. Trusty argued his team “shouldn't be in a position where we have to disclose… declassification defenses,” Dearie wasn’t having any of it.

“You can't have your cake and eat it,” Dearie shot back.
Trump has had several weeks to produce the proof that he declassified the docs.

He hasn't.

But the cult won't understand that.

Then I want the same scale as the top guy at my level! (I think) :p

Did he make a ruling? He said he was inclined to rule for the DOJ that the documents were classified, but it wasn't clear that he actually did so (let alone where things would go from there).

She can, but she picked a sitting District Court Judge - one with considerably more experience than her pitiful resume - and it would be very difficult to "instruct" him about how to handle his duties.

But - I'm not speaking to Judge Cannon's personal skills or knowledge in relation to Judge Dearie's.

I'm speaking of the structure of their relationship. Does she have the judicial authority to direct him? I suspect she may.
