This particular myth seems to have its basis in reality, unfortunately.

For instance: During his career, his campaign, and his presidency, Trump either deliberately surrounded himself with and trusted criminals, liars, and rats, or he mistakenly surrounded himself with and trusted criminals, liars, and rats. One of these must be true. Both of these suggest below average intelligence.
