The South Carolina state House would like you to know that it really, really, really doesn’t like ObamaCare. It delivered this message by passing a bill on Wednesday called the Freedom of Health Care Protection Act, which declared ObamaCare “null and void,” and it aims to “prohibit certain individuals from enforcing or attempting to enforce such unconstitutional laws; and to establish criminal penalties and civil liability for violating this article.”

South Carolina is clearly a very boring place, the people there probably do this for fun.

Ha! Your move, Obama. Send Holder down there to make the bad people go away.

It's an amazing thing to see the president and congress become so adversarial to the American people that the states have to pass laws to protect their citizens from the government.

That's the best I can do, Ernst. What are your thoughts on the matter?

i KNOW obamacare is unconstitutional.

becuase when it was submitted to the court, it was placed under the commerce clause by the obama administration., and the court heard it ......under that clause.

however justice Roberts in ruling changed the law, and place obamacare under the taxing clause....which is illegal.

judges adjudicate law only, they hear law,................... they dont change law.

so SC is correct, the founders state any law not within the constitution is unconstitutional...obamacare is not.

My guess is that SC has no intention of paying for or allowing additional medicaid folks in their state.

More evidence to explain why conservatives are increasingly irrelevant, not to mention totally ignorant of our system of government.

i think you should look into a mirror, ..becuase you have already shown you dont, by calling this nation a democracy.

Well, you sure didn't say that when SC voted for Obama now did you.....or were you just upset because Another State has come out and made Obama look like a fool.

Congrads SC.....All 30 Republican States should do the same. Pretty much telling Obama his Obamacare will be taken apart piece by piece. While discovering all that extra added money that Obama was looking to steal from the people.

I heard a couple of days ago on our 24 news radio station iHeart 106.7, that many doctors in the Atlanta area are not accepting medicaid patients due to the fact they only get 50 cents on the dollar from them as they would receive from a regular insurance patient and the long waiting period for reimbursement for services rendered. Some doctors office has also stopped accepting medicare patients because of the same long waiting period for them to be reimbursed.

I am starting to wonder if South Carolina has a some unofficial motto that it prides itself on being the state of disunion.

Healthcare for the rich and privlidged is over.

Now ALL AMericans get it.

And the DR's in SC wil lget screwed out of billions of Federal $$$$$ for medicaid payments..........

It is an excercise of doing nothing while pretending you are doing something. they know they cannot fight the fed on this issue. You cannot outlaw federal government actions through the state legislature. There is a method for judicial review or to have the federal legislature overturn the act, but so far those have failed. Now SC legislators have decided they want to send a message to their people they are fighting obamacare, but they will be forced to comply. So really this is an election stunt where they waste a lot of time and effort passing a bill that will be overturned by the courts and this way they looked like they accomplished something when they really did not do anything because Obamacare is in and the fed cannot push it out presently.

My thought it it will probably work well with their electorate. Then they will be forced to take the money they are fighting against and get the best of both worlds. They will have the obamacare money, and they will look like they fought against it. Since there is no punishment for passing blatantly unconstitutional laws there is no downside for them since their base thinks that is the way things get done.

I know this is ancedotal but I can confirm this to a degree. My job has lots of private doctors as clients and almost all of them tell us to let callers know that ask that they do not accept medicare. Though none of the clients are in Atlanta...

I have seen some doctor's offices that do not accept medicare or medicaid. Though i am pretty sure you can get supplemental insurance for medicare that more doctors will accept. I am not positive, but i think my grandparents do that to make sure everything gets paid. but it is pretty common from what i know to have a doctor that won't accept medicaid or medicare. I have also found that some places expect prepayment of deductables for things like pregnancy under private insurance carriers today. I know three insured mothers who had to prepay thousands in medical fees before their births. It is no where near the full costs, but it was a few grand just to give birth. one would think by this point we would have that pretty much down and covered.

i know in many instances health insurance refuses procedures they approved just for the fun of it. My father had his credit ruined for 6 months because his insurance company refused payment on a treatment they ordered and approved. I am pretty sure my father did not want a colonoscopy, but they told him to do it and he followed their instrudctions only to have them refuse payment and the doctor come after him for the money with collections. this is not an isolated sort of thing as i have found quite a number of people who have been refused for by insurance for trivial procedures that insurance should be there for.

there is a huge problem in the US medical community. If this is the best in the world then we are screwed. For profit insurance sucks. medicare and medicaid are something, but they suck. I have got no problem with doctors living a good life with many perks. they go through training and save our lives. I just think we could provide it to them while also providing medical care to everyone. We have the ability to do so, but what is stopping us is capitalistic greed. I don't mind paying a doctor and a nurse for my medical care. I don't need to pay some insurance company dick to figure out how to deny my claims. The money i pay for medical care does not need to go into some insurance CEOs bonus or some insurance company investor's dividends. if there is extra money it should be put into improved medical care for customers, or premium refunds and not given to some investor. I also don't need my premiums going to commercials or other advertisements for more customers. i need it to go to my treatment if needed.

I will agree obamacare is not a solution. It is not something we can all afford or get. if we are going to get taxed for not having insurance then we damned sure better be able to get government health care. the government should just make a government health plan for people to opt into. people want choice and freedom then let the government offer up it's own healthcare plan for people to pay into with taxes. If people want private insurance then they can go with it. There is a choice for both sides.

States passing laws to disregard new firearms laws and now Obamacare is null and void in SC.

Obama, the great divider.

I am not rich and privileged, I choose to pay out of my check every week for my healthcare, ....should not you, and everyone else pay your own way?

The sovereign states established the constitution between themselves, forming the federal government. If the federal government malfunctions, it ultimately falls to the states to step in and protect their people from the frankenstein's monster they created.

What does the average Obamacare insurance policy cost the average America?

If they do not pass a law, there is nothing to contest in court. With the law, there is something to debate legally in the SCOTUS.
