In perusing the active topics list today, I'm seeing a wall of accusations being traded between right and left.
"Your side" is complicit in the shootings from this past weekend.
"Your side" is distributing hateful flyers in New York.
"Your side" perpetrates more attacks.
"Your side" spreads more lies.
"Your side" ... concentration camps.
"Your side" ... globalist propaganda.
This thread is for people to say something sincerely kind about the other side. If you lean politically right, even a little, say something kind about the left. If you lean left, say something kind about the right.
This is a serious exercise. If you can't offer praise without sarcasm, without veiled insults, without belittling any person or party, without the sincere desire to praise and uplift, please don't post. If you can't think of anything praiseworthy, please don't post to say so. If you believe the opposition is unworthy of praise, please don't post to say so. If you can't accept praise with grace and humility, please don't post.
Finally, in the event that some members violate these rules and seek to sow more division: please don't respond to them. Don't accuse them. Don't call them out. Don't opine how "their side always does this". Don't rebut or dispute. Repay evil with kindness. Say something else kind about "their side".
For my part, I'm a conservative, and so I say to the political left: I disagree with you starkly on matters of immigration, but I respect that policies such as amnesty, sanctuary cities, benefits for illegal residents, etc. are for the most part motivated by sincere concern for human suffering and a selfless desire to reduce it. It's good and right to want to help people regardless of nationality. I wish we could agree more on how this is best accomplished--what is sustainable, what is practical, what is the lesser evil. But I can't say I've ever had a debate where I felt my opponent didn't sincerely care for his fellow man, legal resident or not. I'm convinced this love and concern for other people is genuine, and it deserves to be praised. Hence thank you.
