Turki al-Faisal also says Israel 'assassinates who it wants to,’ built ‘apartheid wall,’ and denies equal rights to its non-Jewish citizens
A Saudi prince and former senior government official on Sunday launched a blistering attack against Israel, describing the Jewish state as a belligerent and apartheid-practicing occupier, and saying that peace will remain elusive until the creation of a Palestinian state along 1967 lines. “Israeli governments have arrested thousands of the inhabitants of the lands they are colonizing and incarcerated them in concentration camps under the flimsiest of security accusations — young and old, women and men who are rotting there without recourse or justice,” said Turki al-Faisal al Saud, the former head of the kingdom’s intelligence service, at panel discussion in Bahrain that was also attended by Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.

None of this has stopped the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain from beginning normal diplomatic relationships with Israel.

The representative of Bahrain must have felt a corrective slap from their Saudi ally. I wonder what was going through the mind of the United Arab Emirs diplomat.

And soon to be speed bump somewhere in the Saudi superhighway system.

You can be assured that this former head of Saudi intelligence said nothing without the King's approval. He knows the ropes.

Turki al-Faisal al Saud

He's not wrong, but what have the Saudis done to help the Palestinian people?

Let's examine Prince Turki's accusations:

"Bully Israel steals land": this is true since 1981 when the State of Israel annexed the Golan Heights in violation of International law. The recently declared annexations of parts of the West Bank and the older annexation of East Jerusalem further confirm this. Bully would apply to the military occupation and brute force meted out as the State of Israel controls these four broad areas of occupation.

"Puts Palestinians in concentration camps": Gaza is effectively an open-air prison guarded by the IDF, the IAF and the Israeli Navy. There are plans being discussed in the Netanyahu Government to internally exile troublesome Palestinians from East Jerusalem and the West Bank into Gaza. If those transfers begin then Gaza will become a concentration camp. One can also argue that the many small compartments in which West Bank Palestinians have been bottled up in are de facto concentration camps, but that is a matter more open to interpretation.

"... denies equal rights to non-Jewish citizens": This is true due to the strict limitations which Arab Israelis have to live under in order to form political parties Which fully express their own political will. It is also true that the rights of Arab Israelis are not certain because there is regular discussion in Israeli political circles about their rights and whether they should be maintained.

"... a belligerent state": Yes, the State of Israel is a highly militarised and very belligerent state, invading and militarily striking all of the states around it overtly and covertly attacking enemies and allies alike with violence.

"an apartheid-practicing occupier": Forum rules do not allow me to comment on this accusation by the Saudi prince.

"... have arrested thousands of the habitants of the occupied lands": Correct. On feeble security pretexts. Check.

"... are colonising the occupied lands": Settlements on occupied territory, yes, check.

Turki al Faisal al Saud is correct in all the accusations he made which I can comment on here. The State of Israel is acting like a rogue nation with contempt for international law and is abusing people under its military occupation in occupied territories.

However the fact that these accusations come from a former intelligence head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also induces a feeling of utter hypocrisy, given that Kingdom's wilful disregard for its own minorities and dissident population's well being and access to due process. A pox on both houses.

Cheers and be well.

Your Jew hatred has been quite apparent the last few days. Perhaps some day they will be exterminated and your life will be enriched.

Define "your".

In Evilroddy case I respectfully disagree. My opinion is that he abhors what is done by the government of Israel. Not a hatred for Jews.

What is significant is that the Saudi prince made his blistering attack on Israel at a time when the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have been cozying up to Israel as per the Jared Kushner Deal of the Century which is supposed to bring peace to the Middle East. No one believes that these Arab monarchies are democratic or respect human rights but midget Arab monarchies had better pay attention to the wishes of the Saud family. Turki al-Faisal al Saud must have bothered the Israelis with his speech which went against the narrative of the Kushner plan.

The timing was not lost on me. My guess is that Prince Turki's remarks reflect the factionalism within the House of Saud and are designed to weaken the ties between the MBS faction and the US and Israeli leaderships. This is probably more about internal KSA politics than Saudi foreign policy. But this is only a guess.

Cheers and be well.
