I haven't thought about this organization in years. Lavey must be dead by now. I wonder if he holds a special place in Hell next to his god.

Think of it as a history lesson.

Good for them.

They also protect religious minority rights (despite being atheists) and often argue to give space to Muslims/Hindus etc in places of government that are often dominated by hegemonic Christian theocracy. Generally speaking they are a really consistent and effective civil rights advocacy group.

Freedom of religion, freedom from religion, and separation of church and state are some of the many promises made during the founding of our country that we have yet to realize.

Baphomet is pretty cool. Not gonna lie.

Do you feel the same way about people with large inflatable and lighted nativity scenes in their front yards for most of December?

Are they fruitcakes too?
As far as I'm concerned, yes.

They're a tax-exempt religious organization with the same Constitutional protections as all other religions.
obviously. but they are shock porn fruitcakes

no. they are normal non-satanic neighbors. Everybody got religious rights, but satanic rites are evil
and that is one ugly thing whatever you believe

realize? SCOTUS has case law going back centuries for separation of church and state
( doesn't have to be a wall between them but government cant promote any religion is stare decisis)

the U.S.A. has 7th largest population of Hindu in the world. They dont need help getting public space

If you accept one silly religion on government property, you have to accept all silly religions.
This is not a one-religion theocracy.
They must have public accommodation same as any other religion..but they are still fruitcakes about it

What makes them fruitcakes?

I was thinking it would be cool to have a satanic "nativity scene" in my front yard.
why would you want it in your yard? because you like it as art or for shock value?

The Satanic Temple is a completely separate organization from LaVey's Church of Satan. It was founded by Lucian Greaves and Malcolm Jarry in 2012. Both are nontheistic religions.

are you using non-theists the same way as atheists? so they are not Satanists, but call themselves the Satanic Temple?

No more fruitcake than a religion that has a man in a dress that turns bread and wine into the flesh of someone who died 2000 years ago.

I suppose christ on a cross bleeding all over isn't too shocking?
