A noted anti-homosexual preacher, Dozier announced yesterday that he'd be holding a Sunday morning press conference to "ask Governor Mitt Romney to renounce his racist religion." Citing verses in the Book of Mormon that accuse God of "cursing the black African people," Dozier also attacked Romney's church for being "prejudiced against Jews" and Native Americans. He also pointed to the highly controversial practice of posthumous baptisms. (In response to criticisms, the Mormon leadership has blocked off the names of Holocaust survivors in its extensive genealogical database.)
"Because of the aforementioned facts, we believe that a Romney Presidential nomination for the Republican Party would widen the racial divide to a point of no return, because the Republican Party would be viewed as a racist political party."
If I were Romney I'd ignore the whole thing.
That would be the smart bet. Don't know if it will be the Romney bet. I don't know if it would offend Mormons that he doesn't respond. Don't know how Santorum is going to play this yet, either. IF they both ignore it, which would be the smart thing for both of them, then it's a nonissue, and I got all excited for nothing. I'd just get a huge kick out of it if they started lashing out at each other's religions at this point.
"I'm not going to respond to the hateful and vitriolic comments made by the pastor, this election is about America and its future and that's what I'd like to talk about"
Honestly, that might even be enough to kick if off, because it would be call all of the (hateful and vitriolic) fundies who agree with it 'hateful and vitriolic', which they'll feel is an attack.
Mate.
The people out there who agree with the pastor aren't going to vote for him anyway.
Offending them would be a non sequitur.

Not that I didn't see this coming, but I hope the LDS responds forcefully. Not because I care, but because it could possibly ignite a cat fight between fundies and the LDS, which I would personally love to see, especially during the primaries.
This guy is just plain ignorant, or else he's deliberately lying.

There are no such verses. There is no mention anywhere in the Book of Mormon of “black African people”, nor of anything having anything specifically to do with them.
The posthumous baptism of jews with out their consent is troubling.

Actually, there are, but don't take my word for it. Take the word of a Mormon.
He may be extremely out of touch on a multitude of issues, but you should probably have some supporting evidence if you're going to label someone a bigot.Wait a minute....isn't santorum a racist as well? :doh

He's a homophobe for sure, but I guess he thinks, if you're going to appeal to the base, better go all the way.
That way, when you don't get the nomination, you can blackmail your way into a VP spot.
acist
What a joke, anyone who has a difference of opinion then you on gays issues is racist which means that about 295,000,000 of us in the USA must be racists.......:lamo
