Now I have been a voice for letting the primary process roll along, a believer in the debates, the candidates and the elections making our party stronger. In 2008 and in 2016 I argued for patience allowing both Hillary and Sanders to fight on, until they had their deal done at the convention. Now with today's results, Sanders should quit and endorse, not because his path to this nomination is closed or because he is costing the campaign some valuable resources fighting a primary , but because if he continues, he is, in effect, asking his voters to take a health risk and extend one to the other voters, for this negotiating position, without any substantive benefit, and that demands the Biden voters to do the same. We may not need to postpone these primaries ( there are other races to be decided) if this has the turnout of midterm election. We need to make the lines shrink, the distance between those poll booths greater, and keep the time frames for the balloting extended, and actually urge for staggered and a decreased turnout in the Presidential primary race. That means Sanders has to call it quits and endorse. That leaves the voters who care about the primaries in the Congressional races, and local races. That won't be a line at all.

Vote by mail is fantastic. I am an Oregonian, and I love it, but you can't just send ballots last minute to voters and elections staff who have never done it before except for absentee and assume the 'system' and training for doing this, will work itself in a month. You are asking for chaos and disruption. These voters are just not used to voting absentee, there aren't enough ballots printed, and these states have no experience with the kinds of questions that they will have to respond to, in huge numbers. Its going to be a clown car full of amateur hour melodrama. And all that melodrama give Trump a field day as every mistake, every ballot that did not get counted becomes 'evidence' for a pattern that DNC 'fix' is in, that they keep on selling everyone on.

Its time for Sanders to end this, not just for the usual unity argument, but because we need fewer voters in those lines, not more. If both the national political campaigns stop campaigning, the contamination risk is lessened because exposure is more limited. As important as his progressive message may be to his supporters, its not worth this.

Three cheers for a subpar turn-out at all the remaining primaries! If you have something better to do on vote day, Please do it instead!

Because each primary means long lines of voters standing next to each other for long periods of time unless you happen to be in a vote by mail state like Oregon, and that is inconsistent with all CDC recommendations concerning social distancing especially for sick or older voters, and because Sanders has virtually no capacity to win the nomination despite the vote in California, which means there is no plus side to encourage Biden and Sanders voters to lengthen those lines even more. I do really wish you would read the OP. Saves me the trouble of rewriting it over for the third time.

If Bernie is not stupid, he should see that he is only increasing the risks to a lot of innocents getting exposed, when he encourages his supporters to show up at the polls for a fool's errand. He can't realistically expect to win, but he can realistically expect more people to end up in urgent care, or the hospital because he claims he can still win.

If it is that "dangerous" to vote they should cancel the election altogether. Biden doesn't have enough delegates to clinch the nomination, therefore, Bernie Sanders has every right to continue on.

And I have the right to go out to restaurants, bars, the movies, and everywhere else I ****ing want to go. I don't do it because I'm a good patriot. Bernie can't win. Biden has a lock on the nomination, even the first round of voting. These are world wide extraordinary times. Since Bernie has no chance, he should do the right thing and drop out. Hell, he isn't even getting as many votes as he did in 2016. All primary voting should be cancelled in every state. Rallies should be stopped. Biden should just be declared the nominee without even a convention. All of these things spread the virus. For Christ's sake, we aren't supposed to congregate in anything more than parties of 10. Again, the primaries are already over. Biden has won. The patriotic thing to do would be to not spread the disease when you don't have a prayer of winning anyway. The Bernie Bros don't give a damn about America. They are like Custer, determined they are going into battle even when the odds are clearly not in their favor. It's fight to the death, even though you know the outcome will be death. And it will be many deaths by spreading the virus for no good reason, just wanting to take as many people with you as you can.
