I've always put him on my list of greatest players to ever play the game. He was the one of the league's best passers, punters and defensive backs. His excellence in all three phases of the game was why he is unsurpassed, IMO, in talent.

In order to realize the athleticism of the man, in 1943 he led the league in
passing, punting and defensive interceptions.

One of the greatest of all-time has passed on.

RIP Slingin' Sammy.

Also the only QB to lead the NFL in passing in 6 seasons. Of course they only had like 4 teams back then, but still :2razz:

I used to have a book, about old time NFL QBs and their upbringing and background. Baugh, Tittle, Otto Graham, Unitas etc... it was a really good read for any football fan. I wish I knew what happened to it.

I think it was four and a half teams (I think you forgot the Packers). :2razz:

That'd be an awesome book. I'm a big geek on football history.

How many NFL titles and Superbowl wins do "Da Bears" have? :2razz:

What, you mean the winningest team in NFL history (701 victories)? They have fewer than the Packers, but that doesn't make a difference. As Da Coach said, those who live in the past arte cowards and losers. Da Bears are CURRENTLY the only team with 700+ wins.

And the Packers are the only team that CURRENTLY has 12 NFL championships/Super Bowls. Why do you get to count all those wins from the past, yet I am not allowed to count the championships? Huh?

I'm not sure here, and I'm going out on a limb, but I think I smell a little bit of subjectivism going on...:2razz:
