Ireland is on course to approve the amendment on same-sex marriage as early tallies show a strong Yes vote around the country.
Much more related to Irish resistance to the church being involved in the government than as a defense of gay rights.
It is projected that only one constituency in the entire country will vote no.As far as I can tell it is practically approved. Of course, plebiscite derives from a word that indicates that though the decision is democratic and legal, it never the less is based in the desires and intelligence of the street. That is not to say it is wrong. Only that sometimes the consequence will be less than intellectual.

Nope. It just makes you the lonely one who opposes equality-- and then you'll be smarter than the rest of the world! That does not make the thing smarter.
Sad that a referendum is even needed.. cant believe the media are pushing that narrative as a positive.. pathetic.
And once again....the United States falls behind the rest of the world.
Yeah when it finally becomes reality here we can gloat "We're #18!"
Which is about our place in a great many categories these days
I agree, i was always opposed to voters deciding civil rights one way or the other. That's what a constitution and the courts are for
Just on a pendantic note the referendum was on whether to change the consitution so that gay marriage can become legal. Consitutions can be wrong, especially in Ireland.
Who cares?

Good for them.

Sounds like famous last words from Sodom and Gomorrah.
Unless they repent it won't be so good for them at the Judgment.
