Russians squeeze U.S. troops in Syria amid uproar over Trump’s dealings with Moscow

The dispute over intelligence about bounty payments in Afghanistan is exposing a deep rift in the government over how to handle Russia.

Russian forces are encroaching on U.S. troop-controlled territory in eastern Syria — part of what officials say is a deliberate campaign to squeeze the U.S. military out of the region, according to two current U.S. officials and one former U.S. official. The growing friction between U.S. and Russian troops in Syria comes against a backdrop of deepening mistrust between the national security community and President Donald Trump’s White House over dealings with Moscow. The tension burst into the open last week with revelations that Russia’s secretive military intelligence service offered bounties to the Taliban for killing U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan. Lawmakers demanded answers this week amid bipartisan anger that the Trump administration has known about the bounties for months but has not yet authorized a response to Russia. The disclosure of the bounty program has highlighted emerging frictions between the U.S. and Russia in other areas, including in Syria.

In the first years of the Trump administration, the White House even pushed the Pentagon to increase cooperation with the Russian military in Syria, three former Trump administration officials said. The directive was disturbing to some members of the national security community, given that Russia has committed war crimes against civilians in Syria. Recently, however, American military leaders in Syria are facing increasingly frequent brushes with Russian troops, according to two U.S. officials and one former U.S. official. So far, the two sides have been able to defuse these incidents without violence, said one U.S. military officer. But one of the U.S. officials said Russia and its Syrian and Iranian partners are trying to pressure the U.S. out of Syria altogether. “I don’t remember a thing that involved Russia that people were comfortable discussing with the president,” the former official said. “Even at the most senior level, at the Cabinet level, it would be like drawing sticks to see who would have to raise a Russia issue with him.”

Putin knows that Trump is incompetent and a lap-dog. And let's not forget that last October 2019, Trump stabbed our Syrian Kurdish allies in the back to please Turkish dictator Recep Erdogan.

So how many fake threads are you going to create today over the same information?

Trump rolled over and exposed his soft underbelly to Putin.

Putin takes advantage.

Trump needs to get on the phone tell those ****s to back off or we will move in and take our goddamn air base back!!!

Trump will never regain his honor (not that he ever had any) by taking it back but he acted as always like a coward and ordered a retreat, and for the first time gave away a strategic airbase without firing a round.

This was a national embarrassment and needs to be rectified!!!

Trump is supposed to be a watchdog, Instead he is a little puppy who likes to have his belly rubbed!!!

You have proof this is not true?

Anybody who has been paying attention for the last 10 years knows that Russia was invited there by the Syrian government, and that the US was not. The US and Israel practice military aggression blatantly, Russia supports an old ally.

Can you see the difference in moral standing?

So the U.S. should not try to stop genocide?

Yeah. I see the US moral standing is with Russia and against our old allies.

Syria has been allied with Iran. What do you think of that? Syria has been at war with Israel, active or not, since nearly Israel's existence. We are by treaty allies with Israel. One of the few long-time allies Trump hasn't pissed on. The only reason Russia has for siding with Syria is to be a thorn in the side of the US. You don't get that. Or, what is YOUR moral standing in this?

Trump's killed more Russians than any president in history.

The US routinely overthrows legitimate governments all over the world, including Syria. It does that in Syria because we are doing Israel's dirty work for them, sacrificing US soldiers so that Israelis won't have to die, and to advance the Zionist notion of Greater Israel.

The US and Israel, in moral terms, occupy the moral sewer.

Russia is by comparison, very much on the moral high ground regarding their actions in Syria.

Yes and you made a complete fool of yourself trying to pass lies and bull**** as the truth, as always...

Really, which part would you like to dispute.

1. The Intel community told democrats in their briefing yesterday that they never provided any briefing to Trump on this because they didn't find the information credible?

2. Pelosi and Biden telling Americans that Trump was working with Putin to kill Military personnel?

3. Or Pelosi coming out after the Intel briefing with her new claim that now she knows why Trump wasn't briefed?

Which claim would you like to dispute, or are you just all talk.

Congressed is being briefed on the details of this, and no one is saying this didn't happen, only that Trump may not have known about it;).

Trump should have acted on reports of Russian bounties on US troops, lawmakers say

So which part are you having trouble understanding

WTF does genocide have to do with it? Is English your second language?

I would ask you the same question. You apparently said the U.S wasn't asked into Syria by the government. If we are talking about the Syrian Civil War initially, it was an intervention to support the Syrian rebels who were being slaughtered in great numbers. You mention moral standing, as if the U.S. loses that battle with Syria. WTF!

You brought up genocide, not I.

Desperate is as desperate does.

Russia has legal and moral standing in Syria, the US and Israel do not.

As for number 1, there was most definitely an intelligence assessment of the bounties that even John Bolton says he discussed with Trump, so your assertion is nonsense.

Did the Syrian Government commit genocide?

Well I guess the Intel community picked up on my (so called) assertions. :lamo

The National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien said in a statement that because the allegations in recent press articles have not been verified or substantiated by the Intelligence Community, President Trump had not been briefed on the items.

And the Department of Defense, through Chief Pentagon Spokesman Jonathan Hoffman, said that to date, DOD has no corroborating evidence to validate the recent allegations found in any reports.

House Dems attend White House briefing on Russian bounty reports | Fox News

Any other ASSERTIONS you want to claim?

Not to mention, Bolton NEVER claimed Trump was briefed and he wasn't briefed either. You just made that up from other post you read.

What he did say was

Bolton said he didn’t know the quality of the intelligence on the Russian bounty plan, or the extent of it. And not all information that flows through the many U.S. intelligence agencies is passed on to the commander in chief, Bolton noted.

Bolton: ‘Remarkable’ Trump Says He Wasn’t Briefed on Russian Bounties | Time

So you can stop with your fake story about what Bolton said.

This is all fine. Russia stopped being our "greatest geopolitical foe" when the 2016 nominee was Trump rather than Romney, and if you call them on that you're a hypocrite because Obama once noted that the Cold War was over, so really it's all OK if they put bounties on and threaten our troops.

So how many fake threads are you going to create today over the same information?

And there's Condor, with the usual stupid farting noises.

Yup, Made a Thread about it.

Yet Another Idiotic Lie by Democrats is Exposed for What It Is. MORE FAKE NEWS

The fact that you went and told a bunch of lies in another thread does not make assertions in RV's thread false.

(Note how, because I know English, I used the correct word - "false" - rather than the stupid-ass Trumpist word "fake". This is because the thread is a real thread. If it were a fake thread, you could not have opened and posted in it.)

Why do you hate our troops so much, Condor?

Why do you hate America?

Really, which part would you like to dispute.

The Intel community never briefed Democrats yesterday. This is who briefed Democrats.....

CoS Mark Meadows
DNI John Ratcliffe
NSA Robert O’Brien
Michael Ellis, NSA aide
John Eisenberg, NSC counsel
Thomas Williams, NSC, Russian Affairs director

All Trump appointees

Its over dude. Get over it. Nobody EVER briefed or provided a brief to Trump on this as they said it wasn't credible.

EVERY classified brief provided to the WH is dated and kept for future reference.

If there was a brief on this it would be available to everyone with clearance. Pelosi, Schiff, and Schumer would be waving it in everyones faces.

Even Pelosi is now claiming the reason Trump wasn't briefed is because he would tell Putin. Which is pretty dumb of her to say since of course he would tell Russia as to why he is taking action. Shes a dumbass.

Get over it. Its done. Nothing but Fake news yet again.
