Russian pre-detention facility.

Around 200 prisoners in 2018 were so badly injured during questioning by investigators in Moscow region pre-detention facilities that they required hospitalization, a senior Federal Prison Service (FSIN) official has claimed. Russia’s federal penitentiary system was rocked by a scandal last year after bodycam footage showed guards violently beating prisoners in a notorious prison outside Moscow. The leaks have led to nationwide inspections into abuse and dozens of legal cases in Russia’s prison service. “It happens that investigators take prisoners from the pre-detention facilities for some questioning, he is alive and healthy, and then they return him to us barely alive,” Valeriy Maksimenko, the deputy head of FSIN, told the Znak web portal. In such cases, the prison service “demanded that the arrested should be taken to hospitals, and not back to pre-detention,” he added.

There are basically two different incarceration facilities in Russia. One is the pre-detention facilities which houses individuals awaiting questioning and/or trial. These are the worst in terms of the quality of the facility and the treatment of inmates. Investigators in Russia will not hesitate to use physical means to extract confessions etc. The other facilities are the penal colonies for those already tried and sentenced. On the whole, these are better than the pre-detention hellholes. What is happening here is that a prison-service official is telling investigators to not return tortured prisoners to pre-detention facilities. Take them directly to a hospital and then YOU explain what has happened to the prisoner. The Russian Prison Service has suffered from terrible PR ever since imprisoned ***** Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova smuggled letters to the outside world in 2013 describing the brutal conditions in her prison colony.

This must truly disgust you.

I understand why. Being American, a state which openly uses torture methods as a means of interrogation, holds some prisoners indefinitely without trial, and still carries out executions, Russia must appear desperately soft. It needs to toughen up its act to be considered a worthy state.

Lol the gulag archipelago ring any bells? You have literally no room to whine.

Not to mention, of course, that the KGB.....uh, FSB still executes people for the most horrific crime of them all—-opposing Vlad.

I wouldn't worry, seeing how Russia openly uses torture methods as a means of interrogation, holds some prisoners indefinitely without trial, and still carries out executions.

The latter of course not openly either (of late) and, for better obfuscation, on foreign soil.

Could make one wonder how you're able to stand your own hypocrisy, were it not for the fact that those seen as habitually lying as you, don't notice anyway.
