A Russian plane carrying 92 people to an air base in Syria crashed Sunday into the Black Sea minutes after taking off from the city of Sochi, Russia's Defense Ministry said. Thousands of rescue workers were searching the undersea crash site but there appeared to be no survivors. Those on board included dozens of members of Russia's world-famous army choir.

The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known. At least one expert cited a terror attack as a possible reason — a scenario rejected by Russian officials.
The Russian military has repeatedly flown groups of Russian singers and artists to perform at Hemeimeem, which serves as the main hub for the Russian air campaign in Syria.

The passenger list for the Sochi plane released by the Defense Ministry included 64 members of the Alexandrov Ensemble, including its leader, Valery Khalilov. The ensemble, often referred to as the Red Army choir, is the official choir of the Russian military and also includes a band and a dance company. The choir sang "Get Lucky" at the opening of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games that Russia hosted in Sochi, becoming an instant online sensation.

This is not about politics as I said ,jog

They were on their way to support troop morale in a war to maintain Assad's and his butchers' ownership of the population. Yes. They were enemies.

Exactly. It is about the dead of a war in favor of the perpetrators of crimes against humanity and to return the population to that dictator's ownership.

And yes. They sang very pleasantly.

This morning's reports are saying there are no survivors. No call as yet as to the cause.

Argue what you will as to the military aspects and the mission, it's a tragic loss of life.

I am really not interested in where they were going ,jog.Such news are always sad

I know we learned something from Vietnam Nam. Apparently some of us don't have the critical thinking skills to fully extrapolate the lesson.

Very sad. But if this was a military aircraft flying in a war zone then it wasn't terrorism. It was combat.

I cant say I like putin ,yes Russia is not our ally either. Our neighbours dont like us either ,so what ?

I felt so sorry for the musicians

Me too. They were just there to entertain. War is full of sad stories. It is one reason it should be the absolute last recourse. And sometimes not even then.

Am i to understand you are sad that the soldiers could not support Assad's mass murder by torture and crimes against humanity?

....on their way to support mass murderer and torturer get his population back.

Purity is actively waging war on us. That's not nice.

No, I remember so clearly American soldiers who fought in Vietnam who were spit on, derided and disrespected for their service. We have learned that lesson, haven't we? That was wrong. They had no choice. They weren't the policy makers and, truth be told, they were just trying to stay alive.

These soldiers were hardly in the arena. Blame their leaders. Mourn the men.

remember these troops and their miracle of Christmas:

The Germans seem to have made the first move. During the evening of December 24 they delivered a chocolate cake to the British line accompanied by a note that proposed a cease fire so that the Germans could have a concert. The British accepted the proposal and offered some tobacco as their present to the Germans. The good will soon spread along the 27-mile length of the British line. Enemy soldiers shouted to one another from the trenches, joined in singing songs and soon met one another in the middle of no-mans-land to talk, exchange gifts and in some areas to take part in impromptu soccer matches.

The high command on both sides took a dim view of the activities and orders were issued to stop the fraternizing with varying results. In some areas the truce ended Christmas Day in others the following day and in others it extended into January. One thing is for sure - it never happened again.

No. No hard feelings towards Putin or his people. Just that it is war against us that they are waging at many levels and supporting a mass murderer and criminal against humanity that has had thousands tortured over day, weeks or months till dead so that he gets the population back for another go at it. So it is good news every time one of them is dead even ones building up the morale of the troops in the first line. This is not a question of emotions but one of ethics and security.
