The Russian SFSR remained 100 percent intact, and they were the ones who effectively controlled the nuclear arsenal.

They knew they would remain intact because there was no significant secession movement to leave the Russian SFSR itself, so that claim isn’t remotely true either.

They have no reason to spare the U.S. and its pals from utter annihilation if they are collapsing.

…… so sacrificing any hope of your country ever being independent again and causing your people be permanently exiled, stuck relying on the goodwill of countries that don’t like refugees very much, is incredibly dumb.

There’s no secessionist movement in Russia with the influence necessary to break away without much, much larger nuclear devastation.

Even when Russia was going through an economic crash significantly worse than the Great Depression Chechnya was the only place where secessionism had any sort of (very temporary) success.
