Russia allegedly used every major social media platform to influence the 2016 US election, a report claims.
Research is expected to say YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram and PayPal - as well as Facebook and Twitter - were leveraged to spread propaganda.

The 2 reports to be published this week paint a dark picture of a highly organized & skilled effort by Russian military intelligence to influence the 2016 in Trump's favor. With the narrow margin of his victory, the Russian effort paid off apparently. Putin got what he wanted: chaos & discord in the U.S. government.
'Its authors criticise the "belated and uncoordinated response" by tech firms.' Social media was successfully weaponized by the Russians.

I am curious, what sort of evidence could show that or would be acceptable to someone like you?More like social media was weaponized by the Russians but there is no evidence that social media affected the outcome.
Now you speak the truth. Freudian slip?If Russia...or any other country or organization, for that matter...has any success in this kind of action, it only speaks to the stupidity of the American voter.
If Russia...or any other country or organization, for that matter...has any success in this kind of action, it only speaks to the stupidity of the American voter.
But hey...perhaps Congress should take steps to ensure this kind of action never happens again, eh? Perhaps they should pass a law that social media...if they are an American company...is not allowed to do business with anyone who is not an American.
Those stupid American voters NEED Congress to protect them...since they are too stupid to protect themselves.

I point you to the proof that the senate judiciary committee concluded last spring-May 2018.

Senate report: No evidence that Russians changed vote tallies in 2016

I know a whole slew of stupid american voters that voted on the grounds of fake memes russians created. Like ones claiming HRC supported last day abortion. Or the nonsense about Soros.
I am absolutely disgusted the "patriot" party is OK with foreign countries buying and spreading political ads to influence our elections.
I really, really am. I cannot, for the life of me, fathom how the warhawk party is somehow OK with this.
No, All Americans need the protection of our laws. You most of all. Foreign govt.s are forbidden to meddle in our elections and the Americans that helped them are traitors.

Well, cool. Lobby Congress to reign in those social media companies that allow that stuff to happen. That's the only way to protect stupid Americans.
Then that would be Fusion and those who indirectly hired them to get anti-Trump intelligence from Russian sources.
(And now we know those negotiations went on at least until June 2016 despite Trump's denial that he had any dealings with Russia)Verified: Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page met with representatives of Russian state-owned oil giant Rosneft.
The dossier claimed Page held secret meetings in Moscow with Igor Sechin, a Putin ally who is the head of Rosneft.
Page vehemently denied that he met with Sechin. But in November, the House Intelligence Committee released a transcript of Page’s congressional testimony revealing he had in fact met with other Rosneft officials, including Sechin's subordinate Andrey Baranov, during a trip to Moscow in 2016.
Verified: The Kremlin targeted educated youth and swing state voters during its cyber attacks in the 2016 campaign.
The dossier said educated youth and swing voters were a central target in the Kremlin's campaign of fake news and social media chaos, with the hope of cultivating their anti-establishment anger against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. This has been proven by congressional investigations into Russia’s misinformation campaigns during the election, which also showed the cyber attacks were broadly aimed at a variety of voters, with the intent to sow divisions on heated political topics.
Verified: Trump maintains ties to rich businessmen from Azerbaijan.
The dossier said Azeri businessman Araz Agalarov knew the details about business bribes Trump had allegedly paid in Russia, as well as Trump's alleged sexual exploits there. Evidence of the bribes and sexual activities has never surfaced, but the connections between Trump and fellow billionaire are now well-established. Agalarov and his pop singer son Emin have known Trump for years, and both men worked with Trump on the Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow in 2013.
Verified: Trump was offered real estate deals in Russia and turned them down.
The Kremlin allegedly had been offering lucrative real estate deals to Trump to help win him over, but he rejected them for reasons unknown, according to the dossier. Since its publication, it has been revealed that the Trump Organization was discussing a possible Trump Tower Moscow project in 2015, during the Republican primaries
You mean Russian INFORMANTS. There is a big difference. Putin wanted Trump to win and said so.
Oh... So we believe the KGB guy and trust annonymous Russian sources when convenient...

That is only part of the problem, we need to rebuke any nation that attempts to break our laws and bring those citizens that helped them to justice too. Making such behavior too risky and expensive is how you deter such crimes by adversary nations and unscrupulous politicians looking for an edge.

What laws were broke?
Should we go to war with Russia over some memes on social media?
So...what are you going to do when an ally does that? Rebuke them?
Steele was a British MI6 agent who spent his career as a specialist in combating Russian espionage. His standing with the CIA is impeccable.
Of course. It does not matter what nation is doing it. The laws are quite clear.
Well, he was fired from the FBI for lying. He has also said, under oath, that he doesnt know the identity of much of the sources for the information in his dossier and that it should be vetted and verified before being used (Comey of course just testified, again, that the dossier was unverified).
Its no slam on Steele to be skeptical of Russian intelligence. But a willingness to trust and believe anti-Trump info from annonymous Russian sources, when we know Russia targeted the 2016 election, is ridiculous and absurd.
LOL!!
And what do you do when that ally tells you to piss up a rope?
I know...sanctions on them, right?
