 he later corrected himself and said that the owner had been forced to hire union workers.
non-story.

" he later corrected himself and said that the owner had been forced to hire union workers."
SO, using your logic someone can lie on a national medium, say he was mistaken and it's not a lie anymore?
Interesting statement. By definition of "lie", wouldn't the person have to knowingly make a false statement with the idea to deceive someone? So for the sake of discussion, if Rush made the statement and knew it was wrong, yep its a lie. If he believed what he was saying was true, then isn't it more that he misspoke?
IMO, holding to your statement, don't the majority of politians lie to us every day. For example, if the President states that the cost of a Program will be X trillion of dollars and it ends up costing more. Did he lie to us? Or is it that he was just optimistic about the outcome?
Rush makes a lot of statements. IMO, he is a political entertainer. His words should be taken with a grain of salt. The good thing is you don't have to listen to him.

Mistake is not the same as a lie..... duh.
Quack, quack.
Example. Some people think they are smarter than the Greatness that is the Good Reverend.....
That's not a lie on thier part, they are simply mistaking.
Well, maybe it's just the way they roll.
When Obama said asthma sufferers use a "breathalyzer" for treatment. Was that also a lie, since it was obviously a mistake?
Did he then bash the owner for neglecting his workers safety conditions as he did to the non-existent union?

wrong.
Take him for who he is...a spin mister who occassionally speaks the absolute truth.
You have just defined every elected official in DC. :rofl
Oh, brother...:doh Check your ego at the cyber door, Rev.
Here's how I see this particular situation w/Rush...
He comes across as someone who always has his ducks in a row. So, whenever he speaks on an issue his devoted listeners take his word for the gospel. IMO, he has a moral responsibility to be accurate in his statements. In this case, he was wrong.
Now, did he knowingly slant the truth or did he come to his radio show misinformed? Considering how he IS a radio commentator and an entertainer, it's not hard to conclude he mislead purposely until he was called on it and had no choice but to recant. The same could be said about his "I'm leaving the country and goin to Costa Rica" commentary. No, he didn't mean he'd move there, but whoever heard his comment WITHOUT first having listened to the atleast that portion of his broadcast just before he made that statement but especially without him adding that portion to his statement "that he'd go their for medical treatment" would easily conclude that he meant he'd move out of the U.S. and relocate to Costa Rica.
I bring this up to make a point: It's sensationalist broadcasting!
Occasionally, Rush will make a very valid point on any given subject matter, but IMO he tends to stretch the truth to suit his programming agenda rather than just tell it like it is. It's spin until his version of the truth is challenged. And when he's caught with his pants down he has no choice but to come back and essentially apologize, but even when he does he will always try to make it seem as though he did nothing wrong.
Take him for who he is...a spin mister who occassionally speaks the absolute truth. It's show! It's sensationalism for his Republican/Conservative party and personal agenda. I listen occasionally just to hear what the other side is planning....that's it.
Yeah, but it is funny how many high ranking republicans have backed down from him when having an issue with him. Steele comes to mind first, Palin, etc.
You got it right.I bring this up to make a point: It's sensationalist broadcasting!

I figured this thread would be about his eating habits. I was thinking "the dude likes burgers, so what?"
Rush Limbaugh will go away if we stop talking about him!
