2. They're not going anywhere; either can't or won't
3. So might as well come up with a path to citizenship that recognized the situation.
a. pay a fine
b. do service - military, or something.
Any other reasonable steps.

The thing y'all are missing is that most American hispanics don't like illegals that much. For the same reasons you don't.

It's a bull**** bill. No one wants illegal immigrants to all be legal tomorrow. We want them to have a path to citizenship if they follow the rules and we want to focus our resources on the bad ones that are bringing in drugs or weapons or committing crimes.

That is exactly what the GOP will have to if they want to get back into the White House, as the election on Tuesday proved. And your post is a perfect example of why Latinos came out for President Obama. Mexicans add nothing to the country? Wow.

This Just shows how little that man really knows or understands.

If you are going to make them "legal" that means you either have to give them Working Visa status, which means they can work in this country for a limited time and if they commit any crime their visa status will be removed and they will be expelled.

You can give them Permanent resident status, which means they can't vote but they can become citizens in about 6 years. They also can leave the country for more than few month at a time.

You can also give them citizenship status, but you can't create a sub class citizen with limited rights. That is not how constitution works.

Now given all that that means they all also entitled to minimum wage rate and all the perks that comes with being legal in this country. The problem is those who employ illegal workers do benefit from their status and without them things like farming and food industry will take a huge hit.

Keep in mind Both Reagan and Bush 1 passed a mandate to make more 3+ million illegal immigrants legal and that was during 8%+ unemployment. Why is that Republican have gotten collective amnesia on what two of what their Iconic Presidents did?

On different note. I use to listen to Rush, what is so interesting about him is that he has been wrong on almost every subject for the past 20 years. Which in itself is a remarkable achievement, because just by sheer randomness of nature he should get few thing right every now and them. It looks like he looks at things that are simple, make sense or follow common logic and he goes out of his away believe and say the opposite.

Except I don't think it's right to offer illegal aliens citizenship.
We can offer them some sort of guest worker status instead. In which case they won't be allowed to vote ever. Ever unless they go through the currently established process of becoming a citizen

If by "make illegal aliens legal" you mean, "make them citizens" then the rest of the bill would be unconstitutional. If you're talking about some other type of legal status, you'll have to be more specific.

What Republicans should do is vote to make P.R. the 51st state, give full citizenship to everyone illegally in the USA and vote for open borders and automatic visas to anyone who wants to come here unless it pre-proven they have a felony record. Throw 100,000,000 people on to food stamps, medicare and medicaid, free medical and free schooling, plus HUD free housing.
