At the risk of committing the cardinal sin of making too much sense on these threads, I will address this briefly.
Obama was not an associate of a terrorist William Ayers. He served on a couple charity and educational reform foundation committees with Ayers, as did numerous other people in Chicago who are presumably not accused of "paling" around with terrorists. Obama knew Ayers as a respected member of the educational community in Chicago , and a university professor, not a terrorist from another era. And they are hardly good friends, more like occasional acquaintances. Again, when Obama met Ayers, Ayers had already been rehabilitated back into the mainstream liberal community.
As for Wright, Obama was a member of this very afrocentric church, but there is no longer any reason to believe that Wright was a "mentor" to Obama other than in a very general way. Obama is not a churchgoer, as we know. He doesn't appear to be very religious. There was no video or photos uncovered of Obama attending TUCC regularly, even though he was a member there for 17 years. Since Obama "disowned" Wright, they have not had any communication. That was 7 years ago. The most likely way to describe Obama's relationship with Wright is that he was using TUCC to give himself "street cred" on the streets of black Chicago as he was working his way up in local politics. Black ministers are an important part of the black political scene and often have a lot of influence on voters.
6 years into his administration, Obama has never catered, at all, to the "radical" segment of black leadership. Wright has said many times that Obama abandoned his connection to the black community. Cornell West and Tavis Smiley have both excoriated Obama for not doing enough to promote the "black" agenda. The political far left, the presumed "communists" in this country, have blasted Obama for not promoting left wing proposals.
All these claims that Obama is this radical black America hater have no basis in REALITY. Their basis is in the imaginations of the political right who hate Obama for the most spurious of reasons. It is just a coincidence, of course, that this is the way the first BLACK president is perceived.
