Ron Paul Turns Down Donald Trump's Debate Invitation

Well that's 2 people with taste.
 
Wow...to be turned down by Ron Paul, has gotta hurt. The guy is STARVED for media attention...but I guess not THAT starved, lol!
 
Good for Ron Paul. As Ipast said, the Donald and Dr. Paul have no love loss, plus the debate will seem like American Idol.
 
Paul chickened out figuring he was no match for Trump.

Not at all. Any strategist recognizes that Paul has not broken out beyond his core followers and is seen as a fringe candidate. Trump is a regular voice on FOX, the most influential network for Republicans. Trump trashed Paul and that did hurt Paul.

Attending the debate would give Rep. Ron Paul at least one face-down with Trump and if Paul could win it this would be a major victory and make Paul seem viable. But if Trump knocked Paul down, even Pauls' followers my accept the inevitable and pick another candidate to financially and otherwise support.

So Paul faced a decision. Does he play high-risk actually hoping to win the election? Or does he safely keep his focus upon continuing to receive ego-praises and campaign contributions from his small number of loyalists to his doomed campaign? In short, does he continue to campaign for his own benefit or to try to win?

The decision to boycott the debate indicates that Paul fears Trump - probably rightly - and instead he decided to not risk remaining the leader of a small fringe political element. If Paul can not do a face-off with Trump, he has no chance at all and that should seem apparent. It also highlights to the public that Paul is not part of the Republican "team."

Paul is afraid of Trump. Trump hurt him in the past.
