Romney: Putin can’t be allowed to rebuild the Soviet Union

I wonder if DW cares about giving any respect to the debate process.
describe what you mean by "debate process". You make a post, I respond, what other process is there?

No need to wonder. His entire raison d'être here at DP is to criticize Joe Biden and Democrats.

and that's bad? I was told America has a time honored history of dissenting the actions of the government, at least that's what democrats told me when they were protesting GWB.

All you folks enjoy these days is undermining voting rights, banning books, and engaging in insurrection.

I'm an independent. But I have no use for you Trumpers.
is there any part of the democrat party platform you disagree with? Specifically, big issues in the dem platform you disagree. Some of you self-proclaimed independents like to say "oh, i disagree with the dems on art subsidies", or any bullshit issue no one cares about. Just some big issue with the dem platform that just makes you go "yea, i got to be an independent.".

Part of a debate is actually having a point to make or argue rather than just disagreeing for the sake of it.

why should i bother making a point if they're just going to be ignored, dismissed, talked down, etc? Eventually, the debate just turns into "yea, i don't want what you're selling" and that's it.

Then seek someone else who you feel is willing to debate you, rather than just making pointless posts that add nothing to the conversation or steer it away from the topic of this thread.

For example, do you disagree with Senator Romney's comments?

only partly. Obviously, he intended it to mean that russia is a nemesis. Truth is, Russia is just pursuing its own interests. While we see them as some mortal enemy, Putin doesn't care about the US. He only cares about who's standing in the way, and that just happens to be us.

where i disagree, is that Russia doesn't have to be an enemy. If we give them a good enough reason, they'll stop trying to **** with us.

if we give them even better reasons, they'll pull away from china's influence, and help us corner them economically(kinda too late to overthrow china at this point but....it is what it is).

I'm really hoping we can accomplish the latter, but i fear democrat egos are just too big to make the concessions necessary.

Ironically, they'd rather concede to Iran....a country that receives aid money from Russia......apparantly, foreign policy just isn't their strong suit.

I disagree with how slowly AG Merrick B. Garland is investigating January 6, and the House Select January 6 Committee possibly granting John Eastman immunity to testify.

I also disagree with Biden not sanctioning NS-2, but then again, it was already 95% completed under Trump, who only sanctioned NS-2 on his last day in office.

If it were up to individuals like you, Putin would be allowed to forcibly reconstitute the Soviet Union that he dearly loved.

Respectfully, I think that is naive. Russia still harbors strong dislike for the United States and still envisions NATO as something of an anti-Slavic alliance bent on the dissolution of Russia. Moscow is generally unwilling to acknowledge that the reason so many of its neighbors seek out NATO support is precisely because of how poorly Russia has historically treated its neighbors.

Many folks have been here long enough to know what you are about.

a soviet union without communism? sounds like an ally in the making.

have we given them a reason to NOT dislike us? anything at all?

I told you not to do that lol

just call yourself a democrat. If you just mindlessly believe everything they tell you, you're not an independent.

Is this your way of saying the Russians are justified in their disdain for NATO?
That depends on your answer. what have we given them, to make them like us? From what i've seen, it looks like, as soon as the soviet union fell, we left their people to rot in poverty.

Was it the responsibility of the United States to ensure that Russian people enjoy a high standard of living? Or is that the responsibility of the Russian government?
