Yes, they didn't enter the capital and attempt to delay/change the outcome (which is a pretty big difference) but they suffered relatively little consequnces for their actions either. A lot of us were unhappy about the Summer of Love riots, and even more-so about some of the local governments' acquiescing to the rioters. Portland was beyond ridiculous. When the coppers abandon a cop shop to rioters, there's something grossly wrong. Beyond.

As to arrests, you can't equate Summer of Love arrests to Capitol arrests. D.C. was federal jurisdiction, and Summer of Love was largely local jurisdictions. You can't hang local prosecutorial performance on the Feds. The Feds have something like a 97% conviction rate, whereas local jurisdiction are for more lenient. If local prosecutions were indeed more lenient, it's on the localities. If those same punks pulled crap like that at the U.S. Capitol, I'm sure they'd meet the same fate as the 1/6-ers.

Moral of the story:

"Don't do crime. But if you must, don't do it on federal property perpetrated against federal employees!"

If anyone else had made the statements Trump has about a judge or people prosecuting him he'd be in jail right now.
If I'm in trouble and start threatening a Judge who may hear my case that's not the sort of thing they overlook and they tend to frown on it quite harshly.
