“They got rid of all the older children essentially and just had younger children who are too young to be diagnosed [with autism].”
Imagine discovering evidence of catastrophic harm and making sure no one ever found out.
- RFK Jr. talked about a 1999 CDC study that found a 1135% increased risk of autism among children vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine within their first 30 days of life. The study was conducted by a team of scientists under Belgian researcher Thomas Verstraeten
Unfortunately, our HHS Secretary is a known serial liar. If you don’t believe the studies, note the real world evidence bolded below.
Here’s the story in a nutshell:
Several of you have sent a video clip of RFK Jr. on Tucker Carlson making false claims about the hepatitis B vaccine and autism. These allegations center on preliminary 1999 data that has been thoroughly misrepresented and debunked by rigorous scientific follow-up.
The core claim references early-stage screening data presented at a public scientific conference, not a "secret study" as alleged. Notably, the specific "1135%" figure cited doesn't even appear in the actual CDC meeting transcript from that time. The lead researcher himself, Thomas Verstraeten, explicitly rejected these misinterpretations and then conducted the definitive follow-up study. His final 2003 peer-reviewed research examined total thimerosal exposure from all vaccines across over 140,000 children and found no consistent associations between thimerosal-containing vaccines and neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Massive independent studies involving over 1.25 million children consistently demonstrate no association between vaccines and autism. Real-world evidence further contradicts these claims: when thimerosal was removed from childhood vaccines in 2001, autism rates continued to rise, not fall as the theory would predict.
The hep B vaccine is super important for our little ones because it prevents mother-to-baby transmission during birth and protects against household and daycare exposures. While some cite that other countries don't give it at birth, those decisions often reflect different healthcare system structures and delivery capabilities. Additionally, maternal screening for hep B can be imperfect, making universal birth vaccination the safest approach. The U.S. strategy has dramatically reduced childhood infections by 95% since 1991 and prevented 210 million infections globally.
As a mom, I promise I would share any credible evidence of any link, and as a scientist, I can tell you that we do NOT have that evidence!
