MAGA now approves of the withdrawal of the polio vaccine.

They have no choice but to concur, because not a single one will have the courage to publicly admonish RFK or his advisors.

This must me what they meant when they said MAGA.

We'll be great again when loads of children are in iron lungs.

They are regressives.

In this case, I completely agree with you. It’s one thing to provide convincing evidence that vaccine X is dangerous in some way and then call for its strict regulation or ban. It’s quite another to call for banning vaccine X just in case it could (might?) later be proven dangerous in some way.

RFK is a kook.

When you elevate kooks…this is what happens.

I remember playing in an inflatable pool as a toddler, with a child in leg braces, and standing on line with my mother to get the vaccine coated sugar cube in a tiny Dixie cup.

I’d like to hear Mitch McConnell’s take on this.
McConnell, a childhood polio survivor, seems firm in his commitment to vaccines. That said, even if he opposes RFK Jr's nomination, it might not be enough. Two reasons: I think McConnell's grip on power has been weakened. Plus, there's a strong push to pressure Senators to go along with trump's picks:

Republican senators raising questions about President-elect Donald Trump’s selections are hearing a new message: Fall in line.

On the Hill this week some GOP lawmakers faced blistering blowback for questioning the background or behavior of Trump’s Cabinet picks, most notably Pete Hegseth, the former Fox News host tapped to lead the Pentagon, as well as former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, whom Trump chose to lead the intelligence community. MAGA influencers dug up negative stories about naysayers and not-so-subtly threatened primaries, and constituents are calling to voice their outrage.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), a Republican moderate, said Thursday at a political conference that the message from Trump and his allies amounted to: “We got you here. And if you want to survive, you better be good.”

Senators who step out of line are being warned, “Don’t get on Santa’s naughty list here, because we will primary you,” said Murkowski.

Many appear eager to avoid that fate....

“Petitioner requests that the FDA withdraw or suspend the approval for [the polio vaccine] for infants, toddlers, and children until a properly controlled and properly powered double-blind trial of sufficient duration is conducted to assess the safety of this product," Siri wrote.

Double-blind. Let’s see. That means that some of the participants will not be getting the polio vaccine, but rather a placebo instead, which then means that they have the possibility of coming down with polio. So how many people will he maim or kill in his “double-blind” study until he is willing to admit that the polio vaccine is safe? He wants to use humans as guinea pigs. Isn’t this what they used to do to black prisoners and had to stop because it was inhumane? How many centuries does the Trump administration want to take us back?

It's straight up frightening. If people like that were making the big decisions about COVID medicines during the height of the pandemic, I can, with some confidence, name at least a couple prominent people who probably wouldn't have lived through it. I can speculate about many more.

Why does this make me think the worst is yet to come . If we've chosen anti-science ignorance to occupy the white house, it won't stop here.

RFK jr hates children. He fits right in with trump and MAGA.

McConnell's response is rather blistering . . . I think.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader and a survivor of polio, issued a pointed statement in support of the polio vaccine on Friday, hours after The New York Times reported that the lawyer for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has petitioned federal regulators to withdraw the vaccine from the market.

Without naming Mr. Kennedy, Mr. McConnell suggested that the petition could jeopardize his confirmation to be health secretary in the incoming Trump administration.

Efforts to undermine public confidence in proven cures are not just uninformed — they’re dangerous,” said Mr. McConnell, who is stepping down as his party’s Senate leader next month but could remain a pivotal vote in Mr. Kennedy’s confirmation. “Anyone seeking the Senate’s consent to serve in the incoming administration would do well to steer clear of even the appearance of association with such efforts
